Flash Player + SBIE

Post by bjm » Sun Mar 31, 2013 8:29 pm

Hello
How do I setup my browser sandbox to recognize Flash Player 11.6.602.180
I have Forced Folders -- C:\WINDOWS\System32\Macromed\Flash
I have Forced Programs -- flashplayerplugin_11_6_602_180.exe
I have Forced Programs -- plugin-container.exe

I'm still getting Adobe Flash Player is required for video playback

FF19.02 w NoScript disabled and AdblockPlus disabled
IE8 also having problems

Thanks
bjm

For your Firefox sandbox, don't Force, C:\WINDOWS\System32\Macromed\Flash, flashplayerplugin_11_6_602_180.exe , plugin-container.exe. Firefox is the only program that you need to force in your Firefox sandbox. No need to force a folder neither.

I believe you are using/setting up a restricted sandbox. In Sandbox settings for that sandbox, in addition to Firefox, you need to allow Plugin container and flashplayerplugin_11_6_602_180.exe permission to Start and Run.

Sandbox settings>Restrictions>Start/Run access.

Hello bo.elam
I'm using the Default SB and only tried forced apps when I could not view Youtube videos....
I have Restrictions > Internet Access --- flashplayerplugin_11_6_602_180.exe & plugin-container.exe
Start/Run is All Programs
Thanks for your interest
I removed the Forced Folders/Programs as per your post.
I'm still getting Adobe Flash Player is required for video playback
???

EDIT > Upon closer inspection I had flashplayerplugin_11_6_602_168.exe
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction
Youtube videos working okay with flashplayerplugin_11_6_602_180.exe & plugin-container.exe
Cheers

Still having problems with some videos via Default Sandbox Firefox session.
Same videos run okay via Default sandbox IE9 session.
Same videos run okay via non sandbox Firefox session.
Any ideas ?

Hi bjm, sorry about your troubles. Some users having issues watching flash videos in Firefox, solve the problem by either: 1) Disabling protected mode for flash and/or 2) Disabling hardware acceleration for Flash. Personally, I haven't had to do any of that but if you like to try it, read this links.

Hello bo.elam
Thanks again for your interest.
Protected Mode = 0 (off) seems to have done the trick << fingers crossed >>
When I have time I'll toggle back to Protected Mode (on) and test the hardware accelerator for Flash.
Also, in the interim I updated to FF20 and toggled Protected Mode to see if FF20 made any difference.
FF20 also doesn't like Flash Protected Mode (on) for my puter.

Cheers & Thnx

I have a question: if you have the flashplayer protected mode disabled (which greatly improves performance in Firefox), will flashplayer automatically start in when Firefox is opened in a sandbox, or do I need to add a command to start flashplayer sandboxed?

Thanks!

In an unrestricted sandbox, you dont need to add nothing. Plugin container/Flash will start and run when you visit a site with Flash content. If your Firefox sandbox is restricted, in XP, you need to allow Plugin container Start/Run access. In W7, (with the latest Flash version) you must allow Plugin container and Flashplayerplugin_11_7_700_169.exe in order for Flash to run when you visit a site like Youtube.

Thanks. I was wondering more if flashplayer will load in the sandbox automatically, or outside the sandbox? My concern is security, since Firefox runs so much better with protected mode turned off in flash player.
