Could not empty sandbox
Hi,
When I tried to "delete contents" from the default box I got the following message.
Could not move the sandbox folder out of the way
System error code:
(5)
I logged off and back on but still got the same message. I was logged onto a limited user account in XP and nothing else was running.
This has never happened before. As I had no other way of clearing out the sandbox I just deleted the user account.
I was wondering what to do if this happens again. Also I was wondering if this may have been caused by some kind of malware or just a glitch.

HI,
I've the same problem of the other user and I tried what you have suggested (please excuse my poor english) but I've had no results. In the Sandbox folder now there are some folders called "__Delete_DefaultBox_01C926EE.." and I can't delete them.
I uninstalled Sandboxie, cleaned with CCleaner, cleaned the registry, tried "Unlocker" and "WhoLockMe104", but nothing.
My PC account have Administrator privilege but I can't modify the properties of the folders (Read). What can I do?
Thank you in advance.

Hi,
No I can't delete them in anyway.
This problem is started some time ago. At first after the creation of the first folder, sandboxie worked well for sometime, then it created another folder that I couldn't remove and then a third.
Now everytime I start Sandboxie, it create a folder that I can't remove. I can't remove them also after I uninstalled Sandboxie.
In the last folder I find some spyware, adware and other junk and after I removed them with SuperAntispyware and I reboot I couldn't enter in windows.
Fortunaly I could enter in safe mode and using a recent restore point and now all it seems to be returned normal except that evil, evil, evil folders in Sandbox. Arghh!!
Every suggestion is appreciate.
Thank you.

Occasionally people report this problem but so far I've never been able to figure it out. The sandbox folders are created with no access controls, which in effect gives access to everyone on the computer.
The only thing I can think about is perhaps some scanner or other security program sees this, thinks it's too lenient, and tweaks the access controls in a way that makes the folder inaccessible. Again that's just a very wild guess.
I would suggest this. Start a command prompt window:
Windows Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt
A black window appears, type these lines, typing Enter after each one.
Notes:
1. This is assuming your sandbox is located at C:\SANDBOX
2. After the last line you'll get a prompt asking you to confirm, so enter Y in response.
3. After typing these lines, try to delete the sandbox folders again.
4. If that doesn't work from your "normal user" account, then try from your Administrator account.
