Protect when using Flash Drives

Post by Wayne » Tue Jan 24, 2017 11:59 pm

Hi,
I need to plug many USB flash drives from many people into my computer to both give and receive files (usually Microsoft Office files, video, audio, or PDF). I bought the registered version of Sandboxie and currently have drives E through J set to Forced Folders (for USB drives). I have left all other settings as default (same as Sandboxie DefaultBox). As it is not wise to trust USB flash drives from other people, should I adjust any other settings in Sandboxie to better protect my computer?
Thanks, Wayne

Hello Wayne,

Depending on what do you want to do with those files afterwards, you may want to set your Sandbox to auto-delete after you are done with them.
If you plan on recovering them, make sure to test them before hand to determine if they are infected or not.

Using an Antivirus will help:

Here are some recommendations from a previous post:

I also recommend to set the sandbox to delete on closing. You could also forbid in Sandbox settings all programs that run in your USB sandbox from having access to the internet. Also enable Drop rights. I do this things in my USB sandbox. I dont Start Run restrict mine but I would if I was like you and needed to plug in other peoples flash drives. If you do this one, allow to run, add all the exes of the programs you regularly run out of the USB drives in the Restrictions Window.
