Hi Tzuk,

Having an issue on Win 8 Pro x 64 with forced folders. It doesn't don't appear to start the sandboxing process.

Forced programmes running from forced folder don't appear to start the sandboxing process either.

Let me know if you need anything to confirm. SBIE only security product installed.

Thanks

Edit - Not a single entry in Resource Access Monitor in the scenarios noted above.

Problems I found are mostly related to testing interaction with XP's SRP. First, when SRP is set to run a program as a Basic/Standard User (e.g. SRP dropping admin rights), and Run Sandboxed is invoked on it, the result is:

SBIE2205 Service not implemented: SetInformationProcess

I guess after Start.exe starts it, something preventing SRP applying restrictions... Of course, SRP was just ignored previously with Start.exe.

BTW, other SBIE2205 messages you might be aware of: Add Font, SetParent, and I think it was Add Icon or Load Icon a couple times that I can't reproduce now. (The icon IS missing on 1 SRP blocked alert box, although that's not where I got the SBIE2205.)

Enabling Drop Rights (regardless of any SRP stuff) and launching IE 6 crashes SbieSvc after the IE window is launched (but nothing else happens). Using Run Sandboxed or forced doesn't matter. No problem with Drop Rights on Notepad, Regedit, or Explorer (OH, unless a Web address is entered, so Internet related?).

Finally, there's a problem with registry permissions now. When a program has no admin rights (via SRP or Drop Rights), it can still access registry keys that ONLY have permissions for Administrators! (Files with the same scenario are fine, "Access Denied.") This is much worse than kinda the opposite problem I found with files and Drop Rights previously.
XP Home-as-Pro SP3 (Admin) w/ continued updates (Embedded/POSReady 2009)
> Permissions + "2-level" SRP, latest Sandboxie (Pro/registered), EMET 4, no anti-anything (ever)
Did I make tzuk crazed... in his last days? :o

Photoshop CS5.5

Post by FunkTrooper » Fri Jan 11, 2013 3:29 pm

I've just upgraded to 4.01 and I'm having trouble with Photoshop CS5.1 on Windows 8 x64 Enterprise. This Photoshop is installed into the Sandbox; the installation was done on Sandboxie 3.x; after the upgrade to 4.01 it stopped working.

As Photoshop is launching it shows the dialog:
$$$/ADMDialog/iFontProblemWarning=The Adobe UI font could not be loaded. For best results, please exit the program and either install it or uninstall other fonts.

At the same time, I get two messages from Sandboxie which are identical:
SBIE2205 Service not implemented: Add Font

----

After I dismiss the dialog, Photoshop continues to load, but before this completes, it crashes with Windows' "This program has stopped working" message.

New "Test" sandbox
VSO Downloader:
http://www.vso-software.fr/products/dow ... loader.php

With "DropAdminRights=y":
Right-click VSO > VSO Downloader 2 > Run Sandboxed > Test
SBIE2203 Failed to communicate with Sandboxie Service: *GUIPROXY_00000000 - VsoDownloader.exe [00000102]
SBIE2203 Failed to communicate with Sandboxie Service: *GUIPROXY_00000000 - VsoDownloader.exe [00000102]
Image
The Sandboxie service does not actually stop.

Without "DropAdminRights=y":
Run Sandboxed works.

3.76 worked with Drop Rights enabled.
4.01 does not.

Running Beta 4.01 on Windows 7 x64 Lenovo x220 Laptop installed over the top of version 3.76 that had exmperimental protection enabled.

Problem - When starting Chrome sandboxed, cannot scroll pages using touchpad but in 3.76, no problem at all doing this. Thanks much.

I found problems with Libre Office. If Libre is set as a forced program, I get the following message when trying to open files, files don't load:

Image

Again, using Libre Office, if I right click on a file and choose to run it sandboxed, it loads OK but before it loads and after closing the file I get the following message:

Other than those problems with Libre, I found Firefox, IE9, Flash and other programs running fine sandboxed. W7 32bits.

I'm running W7x64 and IE9 on a laptop with HDD and mSSD serving as a cache-drive (Intel RST). Today I installed v4.01Beta over v3.76 and I'm encountering IE9 lock-ups which I did not experience with v3.76. When the lock-up occurs, IE9 does not respond at all (I can't even close it)! Strangely enough, if I 'let it be' for a long enough period (at least for several minutes) then IE resumes working.

As for IE add-ons, I'm using Keyscrambler in addition to the more typical add-ons from Adobe, Google, and MS Office. Let me know if I can provide any more info or if there is anything I should try to identify the problem.

Same problem here with forcing folders, let me elaborate with an example.
First this does not work any more:

Code: Select all

[Browser]

Enabled=y
ForceProcess=firefox.exe
ForceFolder=D:\Programs\Firefox
ConfigLevel=7
When folder is removed for the binary that is already forced, then it works:

Code: Select all

[Browser]

Enabled=y
ForceProcess=firefox.exe
ConfigLevel=7
works.

Yeah, just about to post the same thing after messing about with the beta this morning. Looks like where your sandbox contains both forced exes and folders there is some conflict which stops either from working.

Fairly easy fix to split them off but would be nice to know if this is intended or whether Tzuk is looking to allow both in the same sandbox going forward.

Cheers

Edit: Uninstalling 3.76 and then installing 4.01 fixes the issue for me and exes and folders can now both be forced in the same sandbox. My config file was saved during the uninstal and on re-install all worked as expected.

As the changes are quite fundamental I really should have considered this a good idea anyway but ............

I have Sandboxie and Appguard and both working perfectly with each other until v3.76. My OS is Windows 7 x64.

I uninstalled the earlier v3.76 and installed the beta v4.01 and I am getting the following errors:

When Appguard is set to "Off"
Error: SBIE2204 Cannot start sandboxed service RpcSs (C0000005)

When Appguard is set to "High"
Error: SBIE2335 Initialization failed for process firefox.exe [33 / 5]

Any help will be appreciated.

Best regards,

Reason for edit (error correction): It should say Sandboxie v3.76 and not v3.74.
