Tray icon toggle-switch for block/unblocking internet access

Post by tyler_80 » Fri May 28, 2010 8:13 pm

Ok, im one of those having a sandbox specifically set up for testing potentially hurting junk that i download from the net or p2p. of course, when i test either known or unknown software i block internet access for all progs, this to prevent any nasty thing from going online through a spoofed emule.exe or firefox.exe or utorrent.exe i.e. Settings-->Restrictions-->Internet Access-->Block all programs.

Now the "Block all programs" switch in fact deletes all the programs i previously granted access for, so once the testing is done i must go back to the settings window and again add those trusted programs. and all this each time i run a test.

I suppose it would be much functional to have a 'per-sandbox internet access toggle-switch' clickable from the tray icon menu for a quicker block/unblock. and it shouldnt delete programs already added.

I hope for a positive response.
thanks.

Create a new (separate) sandbox for "testing potentially hurting junk"
with its own dedicated settings. Or, am I missing something?

I agree with you soccerfan. However it would also be neat if Sandboxie would remember the previously allowed programs. I believe the same goes for the Sart/Run settings. An elegant solution will be found no doubt. :D

Well yes, i could create a sealed off sandbox with no internet access at all just for testing, but then i would have to move the freshly downloaded "potentially hurting junk" from one sandbox (with open i/access) to another (the sealed off one) each time. Not quite practical.

In the simplest scenario, it'd take only a click of the mouse to turn a sandbox with programs allowed to access the internet into a box with all programs blocked, and viceversa.
