Or do I really need virus protection if I am running the mail client inside the sandbox?
Here is the situation:
Whenever I launch Outlook 2007 outside of Sandboxie, I always see the Avast! Anti-Virus logo appear for a few seconds. This (I presume) notifies me that Avast is protecting my Outlook inbox from virus threats.
When I launch Outlook inside of Sandboxie, the Avast logo does not appear. Does this mean that Avast cannot see Outlook execute inside Sandboxie?
On the other hand, I guess that there is really no need for virus protection if I am running inside Sandboxie.
Thoughts or suggestions on this?
Sandboxed Outlook 2007 no longer protected by Avast AV?

Hmm, my guess would be that you only see that logo appear when avast is able to communicate directly with the outlook executable(s), but when outlook is sandboxed, then avast would have to go through sandboxie just to be able to communicate with the outlook executable, which i guess avast can't do. My thoughts on this, i wouldnt worry about it, if you have outlook sandboxed, then theres no need to really monitor outlook with your a/v since any viruses that do get through just stay in the sandbox, as a matter of fact, im one of the ones that no longer use any other security software since i have sandboxie, and i've been fine.
