Two steps to run application sandboxed

Post by Newbeak » Sat Nov 13, 2010 2:09 pm

I believe this has been discussed elsewhere, but I couldn't find it. I don't have Sandboxie set to force my browser to run sandboxed, and when I launch the browser,I right click and select "run sandboxed".This results in a new box popping up asking which folder to open it in. I find this to be an annoying extra step that was not part of previous Sandboxie versions. Just my 2 cents.

There's no way to stop Sandboxie from doing that when you Right-Click Run Sandboxed. You can open Sandboxie Control and go to Configure > Windows Shell Integration and create a shortcut from there.

recently i found out a (probably) simpler alternative...

open regedit, navigate to "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\sandbox\command" key, double click on the default string, and simply change the /box:__ask__ part to /box:DefaultBox, so the end result would be "C:\Program Files\Sandboxie\Start.exe" /box:DefaultBox "%1" %* as the value (probably a good idea to export the key first as a backup in case something goes wrong) ... it will launch programs in default box automatically through right click -> run sandboxed :)

There is a tooltip that pops up when you right-click Run Sandboxed. You should read what it says about DefaultBox.
