[.01] Autodesk Inventor 2013 - failing to run in Sandboxie

Post by MisterTom » Thu Dec 27, 2012 3:46 pm

Hello,

Some important information:
  • Sandboxie version is 3.76 (64-bit).
  • OS is Windows 7 64-bit.
  • Attempting to install Autodesk Inventor 2013 Professional 64-bit Trial (download link)
  • .NET 4.0 appears to be required so this has been installed outside of the sandbox as it is common enough.
  • Settings for the sandbox are default with the following changes:
    - File Migration = 46GB (I just add a few 0's onto the end of the existing number).
    - Drop rights in unchecked.
Steps:
  • Firstly the installed unpacks all the files required for installation.
  • Installation starts (make sure to select try for 30 days).
  • Leave the default packages.
  • Start installation.
Problems:
  • Very quickly I get a couple of messages from Sandboxie:
SBIE2205 Service not implemented: WMI StdRegProv::DeleteValue
SBIE2205 Service not implemented: WMI IWbemServices 24
  • Towards the end of the installation I get:
SBIE2205 Service not implemented: Manifest Length (435004)
SBIE2205 Service not implemented: Manifest Length (435004)
  • Despite these 'errors' the installer reports that everything installed okay.
  • When I attempt to run the program, the splash screen appears and the following messages are displayed:
SBIE2205 Service not implemented: Manifest Length (435004)
SBIE2205 Service not implemented: Manifest Length (435004)
  • The program doesn't appear to load, although the following programs remain running:
    - FNPLicensingService64.exe
    - LMU.exe
I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you.

Interesting. Right now the limit on manifest length is 384KB or 393216 bytes. I guess that's just not big enough for some programs, in this case we have a program that requires 435004 bytes of configuration data.

There is no immdiate fix, but I'll change this limit in the upcoming beta version.
