I happened to get the sandbox really loaded the day before and didn't empty it. This morning I used the Desktop shortcut to open IE sandboxed and tried to log-in to my Gmail account. Everything worked normally up to that point, but the log-in attempt froze at a blank screen. (I should make it clear that nothing crashed, however.)
I went to the IE shortcut (runs with without Sandboxie) in the Quick-Start toolbar and got into my Gmail account immediately. It did first ask once or twice about running ActiveX since I have that turned off.
I then exited IE and deleted the sandbox contents. It was so full that just before finishing, the number of items left to go briefly turned negative. This may or may not be relevant. I don't know if this is just a time-to-completion counter for the user, or if it reflects how Sandboxie internally tracks the sandbox contents.
I went back to the original procedure (second paragraph) and Gmail opened and functioned normally, within Sandboxie. So the problem was solved and I know how to avoid it in the future, but thought you would want to know, in case this points to something more profound that could have other repercussions, under other circumstances.
I don't know if this was a one-time happening. Let me know if you think it's important and want me to try and repeat it.
Sandboxie v2.49, Windows 2K, all packs and final roll-up.
P.S.: It wasn't normal use that made the sandbox get this full. In the event knowing what I did would help, I attempted to run StarOffice5.2 (yes, the entire suite) under Sandboxie, to see what would happen. It wasn't OK, and after many error messages (the files being sandboxed were too large) all running programs closed down (no, the operating system didn't crash).
