FULL ACCESS WORKS BUT DISPLAY DELAYED

Post by HarryStottle » Tue Nov 17, 2015 10:08 am

OS Windows 8.1
Sandboxie Version 5.06 (64bit)
Browsers irrelevant (same behaviour in all)

I typically allow full access to my downloads folder. This allows me to download whatever in to any existing sub-folder under Downloads.

The problem comes if I wish add a new sub-folder. The behaviour is variable.

On a good day, it will let me proceed as expected. New folder created, new folder name applied. Document or whatever stored in new folder.

On a bad day it will fail in one of the following ways:
1 (Worst case) It actually creates the folder but I don't get to see it, so I create it again. Still nothing visible. I close the save dialogue, re-enter and lo and behold I have (N) "New Folders" visible. But if I try to rename them, I hit the same problem. The rename actually works but, on screen, the folder name immediately reverts to "New Folder(n)" and I cannot see the new name until I exit the Save dialogue and re-enter. At which point I can see the new folder, with its new name and access it normally.

2 It will allow and display "New Folder" but if I try to rename it, it remains inaccessible until I exit and re-enter.

Clearly it isn't a permissions issue as the above behaviour all takes place in a single sandbox session, so the actions are being permitted and performed. All that isn't happening is that the results are not being displayed - which looks to me like a "refresh" issue.

Suggestions?

That sounds a lot like a problem that I used to have, when creating a new folder from within my sandboxed browser.
I wasn't using a Direct Access setting for the folder - it was just a normal Recover Folder.

After selecting to Create the new folder, I had to click the circular 'refresh' button at the right end of the address box to see it.
After renaming the New Folder, I think that I had to 'refresh' the view again.

Sorry, but it's working OK for me now and I don't know what changed. It seemed to correspond to a Windows Update, but I could be wrong.

getting more bizarre by the day. For a few days after I first posted, I reset the Sandbox settings and the problem went away. This morning it's back again.

I'm having the same issue to the OP.

When downloading a file in Sandboxed Firefox, creating a 'New Folder' in the download options hangs Firefox for a few minutes. Eventaully the new folder will appear, but trying to rename it within the Save dialog will also cause it to hang for a few more minutes before the folder finally shows up.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve this?

I have my main downloads folder added into Quick Recovery.

I'm on Windows 10 x64, Sandboxie 5.14, Firefox 49, Comodo 8.4.0.5165 is my AV/Firewall

I've now moved on to Windoze 10 and the problem still intermittently strikes here. I've given up fighting it. The quick fix, if you don't see the results of your "New Folder" or Rename, is just to hit the F5 key and force a refresh. That makes it workable without the disruption of closing and reopening the Save dialogue.
