Switch to allow/disallow internet access?

Post by Unknown_User_606 » Sun Jan 21, 2007 3:56 am

Hi

first thx for the programm, its really great and usefull.

i havent found any thread relating to internet on/off , so im starting a new one.

Maye a very simple switch to allow or disallow the content of a sandbox to reach the internet would be nice, so one could prevent apps from calling home. Its not easy to do that with an external firewall cause the firewall only sees sandboxie and not the app inside. Blocking sandboxie would prevent legitimate surfing inside the sandbox.

thx

Okay, this is possible, I guess. I'll add it to the list of features to-do.

Hi all

now, I am confused... when I run firefox sandboxed (it appears to be sandboxed by the #'s), then my firewall (ZoneAlarm Pro) asks for firefox to get access to the internet, not sandboxie. Should it be sandboxie requesting internet access if firefox is sandboxed correctly???

Thanks a lot for the great program!

That's fine, the running program is Firefox after all, and the firewall sees it as such.

a suggestion

This is actually a good suggestion, but how about taking it one step further, how about allowing/disallowing internet access for particular process(es) instead of every single process running in sandboxie, would that be possible or would it be too hard to do?

Actually I thought about a per-sandbox setting.

But really it's just a matter of blocking access to resources, which is alreadyd a per-process (as well as per-sandbox) setting.

In other words, you can say:

Code: Select all

ClosedFilePath=\Device\Afd
As with all Closed/OpenFilePath settings, you can say:

ClosedFilePath=iexplore.exe,\Device\Afd

Or

ClosedFilePath=!iexplore.exe,\Device\Afd

To block non-IEXPLORE programs from network access.

Oh the possibilities are endless. :)
