Sandboxie and Opera browser for desktop

Post by ebu53794 » Mon Jul 30, 2007 8:06 pm

Hi,

I use the last version of "Sandboxie" with Opera browser for desktop 9.22 and windows 2000 prof sp4.
This is what happen:

I run Opera 9.22 in the sandbox but don't work the firewall "outpost" seems block the connections.
I close the browser and soon after I run it without sandboxie and work ok the firewall seems to let it pass through.
Close the browser
I run again the browser in the sandbox and this time work!

Please let me know why happen this problem.

Thank you

Is this an Opera-only thing, or the same thing happens also with IE and/or Firefox?

Do you know if your Opera is configured in Outpost any differently than IE is? Maybe there is a difference there, and that's causing the problem.

Opera has the same access in internet through the outpost firewall as IE6

I tried Outpost+Opera on both Windows XP and Windows 2000 SP 4, but could not see any problem. Sorry, I wish I could have a better response for you.

:? I think I have a problem with Outpost. I try now a new Outpost install because I've see that Opera and IE are not blocked by Outpost
using the "assisted rules" the window of OP don't appear asking if allow or deny access to internet for Opera or IE although I've deleted Opera.exe and IE.exe in the allowed/allowed partially Applications to acces the internet.

I'll let you know.

Thank you

I've tried a new install of the latest version of outpost and reconfigured but Sandboxie with Opera don't work.
The problem is not the firewall because Opera in the sandbox "freeze" all the buttons of the browser are blocked I can only click on the X to close the browser and launch it again out of sandboxie.

Again:

I'm online

1) I launch Opera 9.22 in the sandbox
2) The browser after 10- 15 seconds is visible on the screen
3) I click the buttons of the browser but are all blocked
4) I click on the X button of the browser to quit the program (the X is the only button that respond)
5) The browser don't quit soon but appear a windows message to click and terminate the program
6) I launch Opera 9.22 out of sandbox
7) All ok, the browser work and connect to the sites
8) Quit the browser
9) The browser quit normal clicking on X
10) I launch again the browser in the sandbox
11) This time the browser is able to connect through the sandbox and work normal

Thank you

Oh! Nice.

No, you can't do that, but you can enable Immediate Recovery and be prompted to recover the file as soon as the download finishes. There are a few other ways to go about this, like using OpenFilePath.

Maybe you can try uninstalling Outpost for a moment? Obviously you may want to find a replacement firewall, but the idea is to prove or disprove if the problem actually has anything to do with Outpost.
