Symlinks issue

Post by Caxep » Fri Feb 26, 2016 8:03 am

Hi!

Got error using Hearthbuddy. Hope Sandboxie permitted run with bots? :)

System: Win 7 x64 and Win 10 Pro x64
Sandboxie ver 4 and 5 different builds, Hearthbuddy 235
Antivirus: Kaspersky Free

Every time I try to run HB under sandbox, got this error:

2016-02-26 12:14:44,537 [1] INFO CustomLogger (null) - Hearthbuddy Version: 0.3.1149.235
Path: C:\Hearthbuddy\<ExeName>

Every drive formatted in NTFS.
I gave direct access to folder with HB or to sandboxed folder; tried to start HB from sandbox folder; created symlinks between sandbox and working folder; sandbox was moved to C:\ drive or D:\ or flash drive.

Every time seen System.Exception: Could not setup new sym link - the device does not support symbolic links.
Hearthbuddy started without Sandboxy worked well.

Little explain: heartbuddy.exe is symlink which rename itselve to random name every start.

Sorry for my english :)

The first thing that needs to be done.. is to remove Kaspersky. It's not compatible with Sandboxie especially under Win 10

It doesn't appear that it will work with Sandboxie. Both directly installed or under the authority of SBIE.
I got the same errors.
Their forum http://www.thebuddyforum.com doesn't show anything current, Some users had success (unk OS, or SBIE version) but I'd refer you there for assistance.

You mentioned giving "Direct Access", if you're doing that, there is no need to be in a Sandbox, as you're punching a huge hole in it.

Sandboxie doesn't offer protection from being detected. That most likely will happen in one way...SBIE is designed to protect your from changes to your system, not to mask you from online services http://www.sandboxie.com/index.php?PrivacyConcerns

Well, problems not on my side only. Can I somehow disable protect sandbox, but start Hearthbuddy there? It will be need for connect Hearthbuddy to Hearthstone game client. If Hearthstone started in sandbox same need for HB.

Curt@invincea wrote:No, they never worked correctly. Hardlinks were going right out of the sandbox. And unfortunately, it is not a simple fix. We will consider this for a future release.

I am interested in knowing how many people are running into issues with hardlinks. This is the 1st report we've had.
I think I'm not second with that :)
