Does Sandboxie block view to other processes running?

Post by Unknown_User_268 » Sat Jan 14, 2006 4:03 pm

Basically as the subject says. Lets say that hypothetically I have a program that shuts down another if it finds a process for it running in memory. If I sandbox the one doing the searching, will it be able to see the other process?

Yes to the first question. The sandboxed process can see all other processes in the system.

No to the second question. Sandboxie does not grant modify/terminate access by sandboxed a processes to non-sandboxed processes. (This restriction does not apply when both processes are sandboxed.)

Menelous,
the hunter must tread the same grounds his prey are to tread.

the second option is: put the animals in the sandbox and let them
play it out....(i'm curious as to your finds, there).

You can run the Windows Task Manager sandboxed, by launching taskmgr.exe through the Sandboxie Run Program... dialog.

You would see all processes (or as many as your user account permits), but you would only be able to terminate the ones that are sandboxed.
