Outlook Express

Just an observation.

On opening OE sandboxed I kept getting an error from SB.

Had "Protected Storage" service turned off.Turned it on and no more errors.

Hi Oneder, can you say what error you were getting?

If I set protected storage to disabled, reboot and send a link from a webpage that is sandboxed I get two error boxes.I close the error boxes and am still able to send the link.

If I hover the pointer on Sandboxies control icon in the taskbar it disappears.

Start protected storage and the errors don't appear and everything works fine.

Snapped an image of the errors but can't work out how to post it.

Can you reproduce the error your end?

No big deal as my pc seems better with protected storage running.

XP pro sp2 and Firefox with adblock plus and noscript extensions.

I guess these are "Application has performed an invalid operation and has to be closed" type of errors? This would make sense since you say Sandboxie icon is disappearing -- it happens when the app for that icon has ended abruptly.

Reboot is a must? I set protected storage service to stopped manual status, but Sandboxie was still working good.

What is "send a link from a webpage"? Send a link to where?

Firefox-File tab-"send link",which opens an outlook express send message box with the webpage url inserted.

IE-File tab-send-page by email or link by email does the same.

Thanks Oneder, I was now able to reproduce and fix the problem. If running without Protected Storage is still important to you, I can publish the updated Control.exe file.

It's ok Tzuk.My pc actually seems better with protected storage running so I will leave it as is.

A few "turn off unneeded XP services" guides say to turn off this service so if any have the same prob we know why it is generated now.:)
