Had the same problem.
Found that the machine in question did not have SP1 installed.
After installing SP1 both 4.01.05 and 3.76 both work.

Aha! Did mcwjosh just identify the problem?

It's only an issue on Windows without SP1?
I know SBIE is supposed to work on those systems, but really, NO service pack people??
Suppose it could be something like where SBIE checks for SP1 to do such-and-such differently, and this update makes that particular such-and-such act the same way as SP1, which Sandboxie obviously doesn't expect...

Excuse me while I bury my face in embarrassment. I didn't have SP1 installed on this computer (could have sworn I did...). Installed it this evening, and now everything is working fine with Sandboxie, even with the update I was having trouble with earlier.
Thanks for the sleuthing everybody!

So everyone who had problems with Sandboxie since the latest Windows Update it was because you didn't have Windows 7 Service Pack 1 installed? That's interesting, but OK, I'm glad it all works fine now.

I want to confirm that installing Windows SP1 on my Windows 7 64 bit system fixed the described problems. Sandboxie 4.0.5 is working fine now.
Thank you for the hint!

It´s hard to understand how people concerned about security that use a product like Sandboxie (not for newbies) did not apply SP patches to OS.

No problems after April Windows updates (including KB2813170), XP SP3 and W7 SP1, both 32bits.

What if I can't get the SP1 on Win7 64bit to install? I've tried 3-4 times in the past and it stops in the middle of the installation and I've had to do an image restore to get my computer to work properly again. Any way of getting Sandboxie to work without SP1?

Can you send me your NTOSKRNL.EXE file from C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 please Val7 ? I'd like to see if I can fix the problem. If you can put it up for download on some public hosting web site that would be best.

Thanks for offering to help me out,
tzuk. I told my woes about Sandboxie & SP1 to my sis, and her husband took a look at my computer. I've no idea what he did to it, but he made it all (both Sandboxie & SP1) work!

Good to hear. Still, if anyone has a copy of NTOSKRNL.EXE that doesn't work with Sandboxie, I'd be glad to take a look at it.

The deleting of KB2813170 hasn`t helped! As usual "invalid parameter number" (something like that). Sandboxie version 4.01.06 still isn`t working.

Someone sent me an NTOSKRNL file which I investigated so I might have a solution to this problem. This may or may not work because I could not test it on a running system and could only study the file "at rest." So I'm not making a full release at this time because I am not even sure it works.
For those who would like to give it a try, first you should install version 4.01.06, available here
http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=14453
Then you have to download a replacement SbieDrv.sys file from this link
http://www.sandboxie.com/SbieDrv.sys
- download this into the C:\Program Files\Sandboxie installation folder, then restart your computer.
Thank you goes out to the person who sent me the file!
