Multiple containers

Post by mrcandyman » Sat Oct 02, 2010 6:39 pm

I'm new to Sandboxie but love it so far. I have set up a ram disk for my browsers and email programs to use. However, I would like downloads to use a separate container on the hard drive. Is there a way to do this? If not then could there be?

You can have sandboxes located on different drives, if that's what you are asking for, using the FileRootPath setting.
See my post here for an example of that.

If you want a browser using one sandbox, to download files to a different folder, then that's a different matter.
You can download to any folder if the browser is set to download there, or set that folder as a Quick Recovery folder and use Quick Recovery to move the downloaded file.

Thank you very much. It appears I require the paid version to do this. Fine with me, I'm liking this program enough to pay for it.

Neither one of the above requires a registered version of Sandboxie.
On the other hand, being able to force programs to run sandboxed, and to use multiple sandboxes at the same time, is well worth having a registered version.

It told me when I tried to use the second sandbox with the different container that it required the paid version to use multiple containers and it stopped the second sandbox from working. I got the lifetime licence, registered the program, and it works great now.

Hi.

I have a similar proplem.

Background
I have two sandboxes, "defaultBox" and "Flashdrive".

I have this global setting:

Code: Select all

[GlobalSettings]

FileRootPath=G:\Apptemp\sandbox\%SANDBOX%
That's because my G drive is supposed to take the load of numerous small files so that my system drive won't be heavilly fragmented during short time.

Question
Is it possible that the new sandbox named "Flashdrive" can have it's file container located elsewhere than default settings?

Say I have a drive T: that is the file location of my flash drive. Can I have all temporary files for the "Flashdrive" located under t.ex T:\sandbox folder?

My system:
Sandboxie version 3.48 (registered)
OS: Windows XP sp2

Yes, you can put a "FileRootPath" setting under any sandbox in the ini file. :P

I think, all these problems might be solved in radical way. I have somewhat of them too. Best solution would be to make Sandboxie to use different sandboxie.ini file. May be there is some commandline switch for that?
