OK I downloaded the most recent version of FireFox Portable.
I removed the old install completely (Used Eraser" to completely remove all files.
Installed the new version into a completely new folder. Once installed, ran it outside SandboxIE and it ran fine. Closed it and then attempted to run it sandboxed. Still get the error that it can not run
The error is "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005). Click OK to Close the Application"

Re: Portable Firefox - Application unable to start correctly
Hello JF_Sly,
Do other browsers/apps work in your Sandboxes?
Have you tried launching Firefox Portable in a New Sandbox?
Since you are using AVG Free, please follow these steps and see if they alleviate the issue:
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=24536&start=15#p128578
Please provide a copy of your Sandboxie.ini file, so I can have a look at it:
Configure --> Edit Configuration
Copy/paste the contents here, use the "</>" button in the forums to format it.
Regards,
Barb.-

Re: Portable Firefox - Application unable to start correctly
I don't know if it'll help any but I do recall having some issues with the 'launchers' for certain portable apps before with sandboxie though I don't think Firefox was one of them. You could try bypassing the firefoxportable.exe if that's the one that is crashing and not the firefox.exe
You could try creating a .bat file like this that skips the launcher to see if that helps:
*IMPORTANT* The .bat file should be ran from the same location as where the FirefoxPortable.exe already exists for it to work as formatted in the example above.
Some other notes for the example:
1) The .bat shouldn't be run with "Run Sandboxed"
2) It uses the default Sandboxie install path so you may need to update this if you changed it during install.
3) You may want to change the /box:DefaultBox to the desired box but as at this moment we really just want to see if skipping the launcher exe helps at all so maybe not.
4) The example points to the 64 bit version of firefox as the .paf version copied both into the App sub-directory I just chose that one so you may want to remove the 64 from \firefox64\ if you want try the 32 bit one instead.
I wasn't seeing a crash with either exe on my end but if it still crashes for you while using the bat we could at least rule out a launcher or 'portable' issue.

Code: Select all
START "" "C:\Program Files\Sandboxie\Start.exe" /box:DefaultBox /env:MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH="%~dp0Data\plugins" "%~dp0App\firefox64\Firefox.exe" -profile "%~dp0Data\profile"

Re: Portable Firefox - Application unable to start correctly
Interesting,
I used your batch file (Adjusted the path as mine is in Programs vs Program Files) and it gvae the same error.
I then modified to use the 32bit version and it ran sandboxed just fine. So apparently it is the 64bit that Sandboxie does not like. I am running 64bit Windows 10. Any Ideas on it?
I went into my original sandboxed shortcut and modified it to:
as a test and it still gives an error as well. but at least I know I can run the 32bit sandboxed in the meantime.

Re: Portable Firefox - Application unable to start correctly
Maybe run sandboxed FirefoxPortable.exe instead of firefox.exe?
