Foxit Reader users should update their Firefox plugin

Post by Guest10 » Wed Jan 16, 2013 6:44 am

It's not a security issue for sandboxed Firefox, but Foxit Reader users should run Foxit's Update Check (unsandboxed), and install the latest Firefox add-on (plug-in): 2.2.3.111.
You can check your plug-in version with Tools > Add-ons > Plugins

Mozilla had blocked the Foxit Reader plug-in v2.2.1.530 and earlier, after a vulnerability was found.
If you have used your Firefox profile often enough for the 'blocklist.xml' profile file to have been updated, and use the Firefox phishing template in your Sandbox Settings (as you should), then having one of the affected plug-in versions will keep .PDF files from being displayed in a Firefox window.

Those files will not open in Firefox, but they will open in a Foxit Reader window if Foxit is your default viewer. Of course, the Foxit window will still be sandboxed, if the browser was running sandboxed, so it's not a big issue as long as you are running Firefox under Sandboxie.

i recommend using standalone .exe from foxit reader 4.3 (latest 5.x has ugly interface and is slooow), and dont use any plug-in that helps browser woth pdf (modern firefox's internal viewer too)
problem solved
