No IE History in Sandbox
No IE History in Sandbox
running 4.04 on Win7 x64 Ultimate.
When running IE10 in the Sandbox, I get no History and it just shows Search History. Favourites and Feeds are fine. History is fine running outside the Sandbox.
I've just updated to 4.04 but it still isn't working. I deleted and recreated the DefaultBox, disabled Quick and Immediate Recovery, set Direct Access on My Documents, Favourites, Desktop and Downloads and set all the IE options except Force IE to Run and Add Favourites to Quick.
I'm also getting this error 2 out of 3 times I launch IE
"Exception EInvalidPointer in module ammemb64.dll at 0000000000005982. Invalid Pointer operation"
I think that dll is part of Actual Multiple Monitors. I never had this error with the previous version (3.8).
EDIT: I did a full uninstall and reinstall (keeping my config files though) and that seems to have fixed the error. Still no IE History though. I tried creating a new Sandbox, not based on any existing one and running IE in that but still no joy.
Scratch that, I'm still getting this error. I'll make another thread about that though.

No IE History in Sandbox
Same Problem: No History in Sandbox

I presumed it should work and it was just me that was having problems as there's a
"Allow direct access to IE bookmark and history database"
in Sandbox Settings > Applications > Web Browser > Internet Explorer.
Surely the history can only be stored in a folder/file or in the registry key though and Sandboxie can be given Direct Access to either, so it should just be a matter of identifying where IE stores it's history.
It's quite a problem if it can't be made to work as I've found people get a bit annoyed when they go to their history to open something they had opened they day before, only for it to be empty and I have to explain to them that it's because it's running in the Sandbox that it's not working. I've had to just let them run without Sandboxie for now and hope their anti-virus protects them.

I wouldn't hold my breath while waiting for a solution:

Hmm, now I don't even have Favourites in Sandboxed IE. Not sure if I did have before to be honest as I don't know if I checked. Running 4.04 on Windows 7 x64.
EDIT: On my other PC, also running Win 7 x64 Ultimate but with v4.05.02, Favourites do work, although it took a long while for the menu bar (File, Edit, View, etc) to stop being greyed out and become accessible. The Favourites bar did appear straight away and could be clicked on though.
EDIT2: Updated to 4.05.02 but it turned out that I needed to disable Drop Rights for Favourites to appear in the Sandboxe IE10.

Well giving Direct Access to %Local AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\WebCache\ doesn't make the History available in the Sandbox for some reason.
I can delete everything in that folder except for
V01.log
WebCacheV01.dat
WebCacheV01.tmp
which it tells me are open in "Host Process for Windows Tasks" so maybe that's a clue as to why it's not working in Sandboxie.

I experimented briefly with IE 10 on 32-bit Windows 8 with this setting:
Sandbox Settings > Applications > Web Browser > Internet Explorer >
Allow direct access to Internet Explorer bookmark and history database
It seems to work as I would expect: Websites I enter into the address bar in a sandboxed IE 10 can
also be seen in IE 10 outside the sandbox. And can still be seen after the contents of the sandbox are deleted.
And if I clear that setting, there is no longer sharing of web site history across the sandbox.
Next I will check in Windows 7 with IE 10.
Sandbox Settings > Applications > Web Browser > Internet Explorer >
Allow direct access to Internet Explorer bookmark and history database

I think that setting from my earlier post might record only the URLs that I enter directly into the address bar.
Looks like I need two settings for full history:
Sandbox Settings > Applications > Web Browser > Internet Explorer >
Allow direct access to Internet Explorer bookmark and history database
Allow direct access to Internet Explorer cookies
That cookie setting was updated recently in 4.05.03 so you should probably get version 4.05.04 before trying this.
It is still not perfect. Web sites visited don't always appear in the history immediately, sometimes only after restarting IE.
And, it looks like history entries can't be deleted in the sandboxed IE.
I think you will have more luck wiith this after switching to a different browser, if that's an option.

Thanks for testing.
I've updated to 4.05.04 and have both those options ticked. The cookies option has added a path under Direct Access to %Local Appdata%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\DOMStore\* but the bookmark and history database option doesn't appear to add anything.
Anyway, I still have no history at all when running IE10 sandboxed, with it just showing Search History in the dropdown. Outside the Sandbox, it shows View by Date, View by Site, etc and underneath it shows Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Today.

Oh. I thought we were talking about the drop down that appears below
the address bar when you click the small down arrow near the Refresh (F5) icon.
Try this please:
Open Sandbox Settings > Resource Access > File Access > Direct Access,
click Edit/Add and paste:
|%Local AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\
(Make sure to copy the pipe character ( | ) at the beginning.)
* * *
How do you make the history pane actually go to the web site?
Clicking on it doesn't seem to do anything.
Edit: Oh, I figured it out... There's a difference between the
history group title, and the actual web pages below it.
