I've used Sandboxie for some 15 years but recently a snag appeared. Every couple of restarts I have to use System Restore to get Sandboxie to work.
Windows 10 Pro
Sandboxie 5.20 (64 bit)
My browser will, after using System Restore, work as it should in the sandbox, but then after a couple of restarts, I'll get a message when I open my browser that the Windows Error Reprting ptogram, WerFault.exe, cannot start due to restrictions. I double tap on the message line to add WerFault.exe to the Start/Run Access list, but then I get SBIE2004 Cannot start sandboxed service RpsSs(-1). (I checked in Services and the Sandboxie service is running.)
I tried disabling the Windows error reporting service, but the browser fails to open. I uninstalled and reinstalled Sandboxie but that has not helped.
I usually then use System Restore to revert back a day or so and that works for a couple of restarts and then the error messages reappear.
Any suggestions would be most welcome and gratefully received. (Internet searches haven't proved fruitful.)
I should add that it happens in both Firefox and Chrome. And if I right click a program and select run sandboxed, the same thing happens.
Thanks.

Re: WerFault.exe requires start access then Cannot start Sandboxed service RpcSs
Hello martinr,
What is the full error message? (are there more than one?)
Do you happen to know what is different between your System Restore point and your current configuration?
Are there any updates taking place after the system restore, before the problem starts?
Are you using any Antivirus software or any Security software?
Does the issue happen in a new Sandbox with default settings and no restrictions?
Regards,
Barb.-

Re: WerFault.exe requires start access then Cannot start Sandboxed service RpcSs
Hi Barb
Working through all your questions, I discovered the problem: Bitdefender Antivirus Free. Turn it off and all works as it should. There's nothing in Bitdefender's Events to explain the problem. This must have happened in a recent update of Bitdefender because I've been running it for quite a while.
I really appreciate your help. I feel a bit stupid because I've replied often enough to people on forums with similar problems and told them to temporarily disable antivirus/anti-malware and see what happens!
Sincere thanks,
Martin

Great! I didn't relish having to find a replacement antivirus: I came to Bitdefender after incompatibilities with Kaspersky.
I really appreciate yiur kind help. Thanks so much for those links, which offer hope of a proper fix.

Re: WerFault.exe requires start access then Cannot start Sandboxed service RpcSs[SOLVED]
Yes, it works perfectly. No more WerFault.exe or Sandboxie service messages, and I can still use Bitdefender Antivirus Free.
I carried out the following as you suggested.
Open Sandboxie Control --> Configure --> Edit configuration
Paste the following at the end of [GlobalSettings]
WriteFilePath=C:\Program Files\Bitdefender Antivirus Free\*
Again, many thanks.
