4.15.4 is now available. The menu problem in Win 8.x explorer has been fixed.

The previously reported Windows 8.0 x64 problems appear to be gone, but a reboot after installation is required.

Prior to rebooting, each attempt to launch IE resulted in a failure to initialize SbieDll.dll:

on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, the Program Compatibility Assistant screen keeps popping up. It pops up just after installation when the Sandboxie Control window pops up and flickers (I think doing its registration/activation check). The program seems to install correctly. Has anyone else been getting this? See attached screenshot.
This is still happening with version 4.15.4.

Just a quick report: I had a problem with Opera 12.17 crashing at launch with 4.15.3 (I forget which error, though) but it works fine under 4.15.4.

SbieDll.dll was most likely stuck from a previous hooking crash and required a reboot to clear it. Nothing to be concerned about.

There was no previous crash. I was running 4.14 when 4.15.4 was installed and the system had been rebooted several times since the 4.14 installation.

We'll see what happens when 4.15.5 is installed.

RonR, I think like Curt said, there's no need to be concerned but so you know that you are not the only one that has seen the reboot message, I ll tell you, I know I saw it once a few beta versions back in either my W7 or XP, I don't remember which. And on Sunday, I installed Sandboxie version 4.15.3 on my brothers W8 and saw a request for rebooting. :)

I suppose I spoke too soon because I also saw that error message, and that was after a reboot. Had to go back to 4.14.

I did NOT get a reboot message (and never have). Windows repeatedly displayed a 'failure to initialize SbieDll.dll' message after installing 4.15.4. I elected to try rebooting Windows, which corrected the problem.

Many programs require a reboot after an update because a file cannot be replaced or a DLL cannot be unloaded, but the user is notified of the necessity. No such notification was issued in this case.

Ron, when you said "..but a reboot after installation is required," I thought that meant you had seen a request for a reboot. FWIW, I have never experienced an error while upgrading or installing Sandboxie.

Sorry for the unclear wording of my post. I probably should have said 'unexpectedly needed' instead of 'required'.

Neither have I until 4.15.4, which is why I thought I should bring it to Curt's attention.

I would have done the same, hopefully you wont experience it again. :)

When you install Process Hacker (PH), it installs a driver.
After installation, PH can be started sandboxed and is able to alter/kill processes outside of the sandbox since it' can make use of its driver.
PH is open source, so malware could probably access the driver as well. Due to this, I suppose processes inside of the sandbox should be restricted to access this driver, if this is possible.

Sandboxie 4.15.4 / Windows 8 x64 / IE10

I'm getting sporadic errors launching IE:

SBIE2336 Error in GUI server: [95 / 00000005]
SBIE2336 Error in GUI server: [44 / C0000022]
SBIE2335 Initialization failed for process iexplore.exe [88 / 0]
SBIE1241 Cannot mount registry hive: [C0000043 / 22]
SBIE2314 Canceling process iexplore.exe

This does not occur with 4.14.
