For me it freezes when it says "starting services" and "0 seconds left". Is this what you're talking about?

Tzuk

Just run adaware again sandboxed to make sure. As you say "Starting Services" this time 1 second left.

So yes we agree

It does work Ok in a virtual environment thats why I dont think it is a problem with AdAware

Looks like a problem with Sandboxie. I'll look into it and post again about this.

No offense (and im not trying to sound rude) but why are you trying to run Ad-Aware in a sandbox? If you do that, then when you do a scan with Ad-Aware and it happens to find some spyware/adware, then its not going to be able to remove them from your computer because its running sandboxed.

To SndPhoenix

Very good question no offence taken.

The reason I am sandboxing AdAware and a number of other products. Is because I am doing a trial to see which are the most effective. (Since I do not always believe what I read, and in any event often views are conflicting)

If I install them normally I get loads of unwanted registry entries. I am using Returnil AND Sandboxie to avoid this. Returnil is much easier but Sandboxie version....13 I am not sure has caught up with its predecessors ability to run programs sandboxed.

I am doing Returnil & Sandboxie back to back. In this way I feel I am helping Tzuk refine his product for all the effort he puts in.

TerryWood, please try version 3.00.14, the Ad-Aware service now installs and starts properly.

Tzuk

First time I tried to install AdAware 2007 in S/Boxie 3.00.14 it failed with an error message "The installation terminated prematurely because of an error".

I then noticed I had left firefox open but minimised (and Sandbox full of allsorts of ...)

Reinstalled for 2nd & third time in S/Boxie went flawlessly.

I also noted that after S/Boxie installed that the Sandboxie service was restarted.

Anyway looks to be sorted. Nice One. Another one down. I'll find you some more to have a go at before the weeks out

Regards
