Quick Recovery <-> Immediate Recovery?

Post by RonC » Fri Aug 31, 2007 4:32 pm

If you click on RecoverFolder (in sandboxie.ini help) you come to the definition and use of Quick Recovery, so I have no question about this.

However, the Automatic Clean-Up window, in the Sandboxie control program, has something called Immediate Recovery at the bottom, in addition to the above-mentioned Quick Recovery toward the top.

Probably a very easy question, but may I have a link to the definition of Immediate Recovery? :? Can't find it.

Actually, Immediate Recovery isnt documented. :? But i can tell you how it works, if you have it turned on, then instead of waiting til you launch the Recovery Dialog to let you recover files, it will immediately allow you to recover a file as it is saved to a recover folder. Example, if you have your desktop set as a recover folder, and then you launch your browser sandboxed, and save a picture to your desktop, then it will let you recover the picture immediatley while your still in your sandboxed session hence the name "Immediate Recovery". :wink:

Then, do both "Recoveries" work on the same list of files, in the window I mentioned? My first reaction would be, if you're using "Immediate" there's no need to check "Quick" because the "Quick" would never find anything. Is that how you use it, one or the other, or both at the same time?

By the way, your answer that it isn't there is reassuring. I thought I must be going blind. 8)

I vote for having another choice in the box, we'll call it "Rapid Recovery." Any more suggestions? :twisted:

Wait, this is confusing. :?

:idea: The "Quick Recovery Tool" is always 'on' by default, isn't it?

:?: So one doesn't have to worry about it being 'on' or 'off.' Is that right?
I'm just trying to reason it out first, so I don't start losing files.

No, you only use one at a time. If you dont use immediate recovery, then you'll have to use quick recovery to recover files. If you do use immediate recovery, then you wouldnt need to use quick recovery since all your files would have already been recovered (through immediate recovery).

Ha, no problem.

What would it do?:shock:

Well, its not really "on" it just checks for files to recover when you delete your sandbox, but if you have immediate recovery on, then even though quick recovery would check for files when you delete the sandbox, it wouldnt find anything (since everything would already be recovered) so the quick recovery box wouldnt come up.
