All - have played around with Sandie for few weeks testing it out w/ both portable and installable apps.
Quick question...
Some installable apps require a system restart to 'complete' their install. When installing such an app in sandbox, what to do when prompted to "restart? Presumably, restarting the system will have no effect as app was installed in sandbox. However...
Another question - perhaps related to above...
I ran Python installer [python-3.3.0.msi] sandboxed - admin rights were NOT dropped. The app installed alright but permanently - it seems. After deleting the sandbox I created for it AND its contents, I was still able to start Python from my Start>All Programs>Python menu list. I noticed same thing when I installed AVS4YOU. It got permanently installed rather than sandboxed. Why?
thx in advnace for any/all help

You're right. Restarting your computer has no effect. In such circumstances (where a newly installed sandboxed app requires a restart), my experience has been sometimes the app will function properly when it is run and sometimes it won't. You need to try to run the app to see if it will work. I understand you to be saying that you installed these programs only in a sandbox, but somehow they ended up being installed on your real system. If that understanding is correct, I don't see how it's possible, unless you used the recovery feature to recover them to your real system.mutsuura wrote:I ran Python installer [python-3.3.0.msi] sandboxed - admin rights were NOT dropped.
