Accessing registry keys

Post by Unknown_User_933 » Sat Aug 25, 2007 3:17 pm

Could someone please explain how to access the registry keys made by a sandboxed program. i know that you have to check under hkey_users however ,i find the entire contents of my registry under hkey_users and not just the keys made by the program.

If there is a simpler way like that in versions 2.64 and earlier where all you had to do was use regdump, please explain.

BTW after installing 2.86 or 3.0 version of sandboxie my earlier version of sandboxie does not work.it always crashes with some error as soon as it starts.

If anyone knows how to solve these problems please help.

Are you looking in the right place, under HKEY_USERS you should see a subkey called "Sandbox_(yourname)_DefaultBox", then under that subkey will be all the keys created by the program, also make sure your not starting regedit sandboxed.
BTW after installing 2.86 or 3.0 version of sandboxie my earlier version of sandboxie does not work.it always crashes with some error as soon as it starts.
What? Are you running 2 different versions of Sandboxie?

The Registry entry made by Sandboxie is created whenever you run a program in a sandbox, and it is deleted when the sandboxed processes end.

HKEY_USERS\Sandbox_(your name)_(sandbox name)

Multiple entries can exist, if you are running programs in multiple sandboxes:
HKEY_USERS\Sandbox_(your name)_DefaultBox
HKEY_USERS\Sandbox_(your name)_TestBox

etc..

Thanks,i was running regedit sandboxed and also i did not know that the keys are unloaded once the sandboxed programs are closed.

About the older version of sandboxie, what i meant was if i uninstall the latest version of sandboxie and then install and run the old version it crashes with an error.Any ideas?

You can Update your Sandboxie, by using the new install data. But you have to empty the sandbox and shut it down before you update it. I had the same problem, but now, it works.
