Any workaround for lingering Chrome process in 5.16? [SLVD]

Post by cornflake » Thu Jan 26, 2017 2:27 pm

I recently upgraded Chrome and now there's a lingering chrome.exe in the Sandbox. I have looked at the beta forum and apparently this problem is addressed in 5.17 beta. At the moment I have computers I can't upgrade to 5.17 so I am wondering if there is a way I can workaround the issue in 5.16. Thanks.

Greetings cornflake,

The issue, as you mentioned, was fixed on the beta version:

You can try right-clicking on the Sandbox "terminate all programs", see if that helps.

Barb.-

Thanks Barb but I'm looking for some automated way it can be done, since family members that don't know or understand Sandboxie are using those computers.

The lingering chrome.exe shouldn't be a problem. If they don't know how to use SbieCtrl, they shouldn't even know the chrome.exe is lingering.

No one even reported the problem in the forum -- it is something I noticed after a Chrome update. Am I missing something?

It is something I noticed as well. The sandboxes are delete-on-exit and they aren't deleting, so I am looking for a workaround. If not it's no big deal I can upgrade them just not right away.

A good workaround for the situation when sandboxes dont delete automatically even when set to do so, in my opinion if this happens constantly, is to get used to deleting manually the sandboxes where you run the lingering program (in your case, Chrome). I used to do that for one program. Its not hard getting used to doing that. The best solution is to update to 5.17 but if you cant do that now then delete manually.

Thanks for your advice but these are people without the comprehension to know what a sandbox is, it is to stop them from doing stupid stuff on the computers.

I upgraded Sandboxie on all the computers today so I no longer need a workaround.
