Advanced Lingering Programs

Post by thomaz » Sun Apr 10, 2016 8:09 pm

hi,

many apps start "webhelpers" today.
when u end the programs the "webhelpers" often still run.

so it would be nice if "lingering programs" gets an advance option where you can "pair" for example "spotifywebhelper.exe" with "spotify.exe".
when "spotify.exe" gets terminated sandboxie also terminates "spotifywebhelper.exe".

thx.

Lingering programs has all but been deprecated in SBIE versions. It was used in the past as fix to other issues.

We recommend you not use linger process in SBIE.

then i change my FEATURE REQUEST to:

many programs start other .exe files and when the main program gets terminated the other .exe files remain running.
i wish i had an option where the child programs also get terminated when i terminate its parent.
for example "spotify.exe" starts "spotifywebhelper.exe".
and now sandboxie gets a new "Kill Child(s) When Parent Dies" option.
in this brand new option i tell sandboxie to terminate "spotifywebhelper.exe" when "spotify.exe" process disappears from taskmanager.

Maybe I'm just being my normal drunken stupid self (big surprise if that turns out to be the case, eh?) but what you described, seems to me at least, to be already available [in a way, though it might not work exactly as you hope] by setting up 'Program stop' > 'Leader Programs'! Don't hate me for my incorrect drunken posts, instead just hate me when I actually happen to be right! (which isn't that often... :P )
