SandBoxie & Returnil

Post by TerryWood » Fri Jul 13, 2007 10:08 am

I have read a lot about a product called Returnil (Virtualisation) and also people apparently using Sandboxie with it.

I am a Sandboxie user and would Tzuks take on using the two programs together.

Tzuk, in simple terms is there any benefit in using Returnil alongside Sandboxie or am I wasting my time and effort.

Thanks

Terry

I am sure Returnil is a fine product, but I've never used it.

Dont know why you'd want to run both together, returnil "freezes" your pc so that anything you do to your pc is "undone" when you restart your pc, but you'd never be able to make changes to your computer or the software, (including SandboxIE) on it because it'd be lost when you restart, with sandboxie though, you'd be able to "make changes" to your pc and the software on it, at the same time, you'd be protected cause nothing sandboxed could affect your hd (and in a way thats like returnil) cause it would be gone when you delete the sandbox (again thats like returnil). Either way both software are good, but sandboxie is betterImage

Running both here with no slowdowns or probs.

Sandboxie is still my favourite app.

Just running Returnil requires a reboot to rid any infections but with Sandboxie running as well any inet borne attacks are contained and a simple "delete contents of Sandbox" will rid any infections rather than having to reboot.

PowerShadow is another good app but Sandboxie is the best first line of defense money can buy!Image
