- Using the standard wizard, with creates a link with "Start.exe" like the following:
"C:\Program Files\Sandboxie\Start.exe" /box:DefaultBox "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programmi\Mozilla Firefox.lnk" - Browsing the Firefox folder and launching firefox.exe in a sandbox
- Opening Firefox.lnk shortcut in a sandbox
- Opening the Firefox folder in a sandbox and launching firefox.exe (which opens automatically in the same sandbox, too)
Launching a program with Start.exe or manually [SOLVED]
Launching a program with Start.exe or manually [SOLVED]
Hi to all, I was wondering what differences occur starting a program in this ways, for example Firefox:
Re: Launching a program with Start.exe or manually
Are you by chance on Windows XP or using some form of secondary logon, eg runas? These are the only cases I've noticed differences on some behavior myself so that's why I ask. Otherwise I'm not sure I have a clue if you are seeing a problem...
As for functionality they are similar in that at some point Start.exe gets called (I believe) but only actually differ on when or what causes the start.exe process to begin.
A pre-defined shortcut with start in the mix is simply a manual method to begin the process. The context menu is pretty similar to this option but passes the path instead. The forced option is something more of a mystery though at some point the driver interrupts the process and asserts the start to control it.
The above is based on my observations and may not be 100% accurate.
Are you using the html5 version or flash version of the test? There's a page about some flash related oddities related to the box path/name but I'm not sure it applies here.

Re: Launching a program with Start.exe or manually
Thank you for reply Syrinx. I'm using Windows 10 Home 64 bit and I was testing Speedtest with Flash. By the way, the problem with that site was solved by resetting Firefox profile, then it had to do with my browser, but it was strange that in some cases it worked.
