ESET and Sandboxie

Post by TomFace » Wed Sep 26, 2012 10:08 am

I use IE9 and was on the web. It is in my sandbox. When I was done, I noticed my Eset Smart Security 5 indicated it had a trojan (JS/Kryptik YI) in quarantine. The descriptive in the log indicates it was detected upon access the the internet. My Eset is on my desktop. As I am new to Sandboxie, is that what suposed to happen or do I have something set up incorrectly? I am not a PC wiz or a AV expert, so please advise in English I can understand. I also use AT&T Yahoo webmail which opens in another tab with my IE9. Is there anything I need to do for that e-mail system to use the full benefit of Sandboxie?

Thanks in advance!

It is possible for your anti-virus to find a virus in the sandbox and move it to its own quarantine area, effectively moving the virus from one isolation area to another. For more questions see this:

TomFace,

I also have an Eset AV product on my system desktop. What you experienced is normal. There have been many times that Nod32 moved malware from my sandbox to its own quarantine area, as mentioned by tzuk. I just delete the malware from quarantine.
