.
I have Win 10 Home Pro and SB 5.16. Once per day I delete SB contents and shut down.
Recently, it has taken several minutes to download a file from the internet. Examples are PDF and installation files.
When I click on the file to be downloaded, all the following can happen:
- The entire browser (Chrome + SB) freezes up for a minute. During this time, none of the tabs in the browser can be selected.
- Eventually the "Save As" dialog is presented.
- Scroll to the required folder. This occurs at normal speed.
- Select the required folder. The folder is highlighted. The spinner spins for about a minute.
- Eventually the SB "Recover" dialog is presented.
- The file is recovered.
I can immediately open a non-SB Chrome, and repeat the whole operation in a matter of seconds. I think this proves that the issue is related to SB.
I would be grateful for any assistance.

Re: SB freezes during file download
Hello OldGrantonian,
I just tested downloading random files and did not see this behavior. Do you have a website where this happens every time?
Does the issue happen whenever a Save dialog box appears? If so, have a look at this (it is for Opera, but the steps can be applied here too to see if they help):

Do you have any Antivirus software installed?
Regards,
Barb.-

Re: SB freezes during file download
Hi Barb,
Thanks for your response.
- The issue always happens when the Save box appears in SB Chrome.
- The issue never happens when the Save box appears in non-SB Chrome.
- The issue never happens when the Save box appears in Notepad, Word, Excel, or other Windows apps.
- During the course of this discussion, I received an SB Thunderbird email with an HTM file attached. It opened without problems.
So, it's still only the SB + Chrome combination that freezes.
I didn't want to open IE in case it contaminates my laptop or attacks my grandchildren. But I'll try it if necessary.
I can see "Edge" in Programs, but the context menu does not contain SB (or many other options)
.
Thanks for your response.
I use Windows Defender on real time. I turned it off for testing. The results were exactly the same.Barb@Invincea wrote: Do you have any Antivirus software installed?
This problem started about a week or so ago. Since then, I've visited several sites several times per day. Always the same issue. In other words, there has not been a "normal" download since the issue started.Barb@Invincea wrote:Do you have a website where this happens every time?
I'm sorry. Please clarify the question.Barb@Invincea wrote:Does the issue happen whenever a Save dialog box appears?

Re: SB freezes during file download
Hi OldGrantonian,
Thanks for the clarification. I am unable to reproduce the issue, I am using the latest Sandboxie beta, perhaps you can give it a try:

Did you try the steps from the Opera post I copied earlier? It sounds like a similar issue, and the workaround listed there might help you.

Thanks Barb. The beta version solved the problem
I forgot to mention in my last post that the Opera patch had no effect.

Re: SB freezes during file download (recurring)

This issue has returned after upgrading to SB 5.17.2
You might recall that I had this issue with SB 5.16. At that time the issue was solved by using the latest beta.
Please advise.

Also, the latest beta is 5.17.4 (there was a memory leak fix added to that version):Does the issue happen whenever a Save dialog box appears? If so, have a look at this (it is for Opera, but the steps can be applied here too to see if they help):
