Hi, I have run into a strange problem and was hoping one of the experts here may be able to clear this up.
I am running a number of sandboxes, one to process banking and tax dealings. This sandbox is restricted to allow only browsers and java internet access. Java is included as one of my banks and the tax office requires this. Due to chrome no longer working with java, I need to use IE for those 2 sites. At the moment I can use my finance sandbox to log on to the tax office and get verified by their certificate/key (installed on my pc) . However if I don't log on within a given period (I think it's a year), the certificate gets invalidated. Despite me accessing this site at least once a month, this happened last year. It took me a while to figure out that this happened because I always log on sandboxed, so somehow (cookie?) it looked like I had never logged on as my sandbox empties everything by default on closing. In order to avoid this issue coming up again, I wanted to access the site outside the sandbox once.
Strangely trying to do that, I am being told by IE that I seem not to have Java installed. Using IE sandboxed and everything else being the same I can log on fine. Any idea why in this case using sandboxie makes a site work better than running unsandboxed? I was under the impression that sandboxie would only restrict settings, so why would a "normal" IE 11 prevent something that a sandboxed IE 11 handles fine?

Re: Java in Sandboxie and outside
Hi mouse. All you describe makes it seem (to me) like you Java installed in your banking sandbox. So, when you you run IE in the banking sandbox, Java interacts with IE. And then when you run IE out of the sandbox, IE tells you that it seems you don't have Java installed in the system. That makes perfect sense.
But the problem with that is that you say you have the banking sandbox set to delete on closing. I would check two things, 1. Make sure Java shows up in Control panel>Programs. In other words, make sure Java is really installed in the system. And 2. Make sure your banking sandbox is actually set to delete on closing and that it really does delete on closing when you exit the sandboxed IE.

Bo,
what you say makes perfect sense but unfortunately does not solve the issue. I just checked again and now I think it has only indirectly to do with Java but primarily with the tax office website. It's certainly not a sandboxie issue. Checking Java via the control program shows I am running Version 8 Upd 73 and my fin sandbox shows autodelete. Checking my java version using IE now also shows the correct version both inside sandboxie as well as outside, it 's just the silly site seems to have an issue with agreeing with that. Might have to call their help desk to see if they have come across this before.
