The downloader is required for downloading albums. It gets started by Firefox when selecting "get MP3 album". Mine downloads music to \users\<username>\music\Amazon MP3\ and then adds the music to iTunes when the album finishes downloading. Not all the files from the album get added to the iTunes library for some reason.

There are probably some free albums on Amazon you can test it with. Here's one:
