wraithdu, I wasn't suggesting it was the part of your launcher that was the fault. The launcher has served me very well. I think it was just one of those unexplainable oddities of working with windows
Ive just tried the new update and no problems.
The file you said should be called SbieDll.dll is however (although not renamed by your launcher) definitely called SbieDllx.dll when extracted from the original install program and errors on running your launcher. When this is renamed SbieDll.dll there are no errors on loading.
Your a star. Keep up the good

Thanks, I'm glad it's working well for you.
If you don't mind me asking, what version of Sandboxie are you running? I ask because I just downloaded and opened up the official v3.01 and the experimental v3.01.19 and both have the correctly named SbieDll.dll. If there really is a weird file name thing going on, I'd like to make a note of it in this thread so I can let other users know.
Do me a favor and re-download those installs and see if the file is named correctly for you. BTW, I use 7-zip to open the installers. I don't know if this makes a difference or not versus other archive progs like WinRAR, WinZip, etc.

I think you got that backwards. The 32-bit has only SbieDll.dll. Which are you running, 32-bit or 64-bit? Cause I doubt my launcher will work for 64-bit. Maybe that's the error you had before cause you tried to run the 64-bit version on a 32-bit system? Yeah, definitely don't want to do that.Spacemonkey wrote:If you dl the 64bit version it has both SbieDll.dll and SbieDllx.dll, but.. if you dl the 32bit version it has only SbieDllx.dll

I'm running on 32 not 64.
Just did a screen grab of the contents of the 2 files (both dl'd today). http://www.uploadgeek.com/uploads456/1/ ... ntents.jpg
Both opened with 7zip 4.5

The dl link is http://www.sandboxie.com/SandboxieInstall.exe
and the file version shown for SbieDllx is 3.01 (as shown in properties under file version)

I'm sorry man, I'm out of ideas. I have NO clue what's happening. You're in the computer land Twilight Zone or something. All I can say is delete your cache, clear all your temp files, run your browser unsandboxed and try again. If it's still called SbieDllX.dll, chalk it up to a parallel universe and just rename it. Cuz I'm stumped.

Thank you for your patience and time. My sandboxie is working after the rename of the odd file so I'm all happy
I really have no idea what is going on at my end (tried from 3 diff pc's all running from diff places). I'm sure your thinking I'm doing something wrong or messing you around but I'm honestly not, and what makes it worse its not like I'm a beginner at this computer lark so i should be able to work this one out myself... I will be trying this on everyones pc i can get my hands on now to get a diff result.
If I do find a reason for this Ill let you know. It may help others who enter my "computer land Twilight Zone".
Again, thank you for your time and keep up all the good work. Its much appreciated

Is SbieSvc.exe running in the Task Manager? Do you have any errors in the Event Log that the error messages ask about?
Have you tried installing the program normally? Do you get the same errors? The portable launcher essentially installs and uninstalls the program in the same way as the normal installer/uninstaller. I would expect to see these errors in both cases. If that is true, then you need to report this is the official version 3 forum.

System log has nothing in it pertaining to SB.wraithdu wrote:Is SbieSvc.exe running in the Task Manager? Do you have any errors in the Event Log that the error messages ask about?

Sandboxie Control starts, status icon shows. BUT, takes a min or two to become usable (e.g. clicking icon to show menu).
SbieSvc.exe does not show in taskmanager.
I had it installed locally before trying the portable version (I did remove it), and it worked perfectly.
I thought someone here may have had this problem before and knew how to fix since it seems related to "Portable", not SB itself.
