Webpages are not loading - certificate error

Post by riggs609 » Mon Jul 03, 2017 2:17 pm

Hi, Just today almost every website including Google, Sandoxie and most others come up as certificate error when running IE in Sandboxie. However, if I run IE without Sanboxie all of the sites open normally. I updated to the latest version of Sandboxie 5.20 and rebooted and still not working. I am running current Windows 7 and IE 11.

"Here is the error message that comes up instead of the webpage:
There is a problem with this website’s security certificate.

Hello riggs609,

Please provide the required information so that we can assist:
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=19746

Be sure to include the full error message, whether there is an Antivirus involved, etc (see the thread for all the details).

On top of that: do other web browsers work?
What's the full error message?

Regards,
Barb.-

Hi,

IE 11 works without Sandboxie and Comodo Dragon works without Sandboxie.

I use Comodo security pro 10 for my antivirous protection; I have used it along with Sandboxie for years with no problem until now.

I updated to the latest version of Sandboxie 5.20 and rebooted and still not working. I am running current Windows 7 and IE 11.

Hello riggs609,

Sandboxie wouldn't cause your certificate error, there is something else (third party) triggering the issue when you Sandbox your browser.
Do other web browsers work Sandboxed? How about applications?
Are there any extensions added to your browser? Any toolbars?

Could you please try disabling your Antivirus protection and see if that makes a difference? If you can find any options in the AV that are related to web browsing, please disable those as well.
I'll test your setup tomorrow and see if I can repro the issue. Are you on Windows x86 or x64?

Also, please post the output of your Res. Acc. Mon (use the "</> Code " button in the forum to format it):

Hi,

I tried running comodo dragon browser in sandboxie and it does the same thing. However, I just realized it is only blocking https sites while it lets the http sites load. so for some reason secure webpages are getting blocked when sandboxed but not when ran without sandboxie.

I am running x64

Hello riggs609,

I tested Comodo Internet security Pro 10 on Windows 7 x64 + sBIE 5.20. I was able to navigate https and http websites with Internet Explorer without issues. Did you set any rules for Website Filtering in Comodo? (by default, I see 2 listed there Allowed and Blocked sites). Do you use any personalized settings for Comodo in general?

Does the issue happen in a new Sandbox with default settings?

Is there anything else that was installed on your computer when the issue started, any security policies?

Try restoring the Advanced settings in IE:
Click Start and type inetcpl.cpl
Go to Advanced Tab
Click Restore advanced settings
Hit Ok, relaunch IE outside Sandboxie, then launch it inside Sandboxie.

Can you please provide the output of your Resource Access Monitor ?

Regards,
Barb.-

I too have this problem. On all three of my life-time licensed machines. It is Sandboxie not being able to read the Certificates for these browsers.

Me and the companies I deal with gave up on Sandboxie already. We're using the new free VMWare Players.

Hello Kellogs,

If you could provide the info requested above, as well as any policies that may be in place and affect certificates on the computers, I will test them.

Any additional information/steps will also help.

Regards,
Barb.-
