Need for a recommended Sandboxie Standard Use Process?

Post by Unknown_User_410 » Wed Jul 26, 2006 4:57 pm

I have been trying Sandboxie out over the past few days. Certainly impressed and starting to tell others about it. However there are a couple of issues that I seem to be experiencing that are more likely due to my ignorance. It may be that the help documentation should include a recommended operating process to help new users / home users - esp non IT specialists.

I have tended to run my Firefox browser in non-sandbox mode for trusted web sites / regular activities side by side with using it in sandbox mode for surfing / trying out new things. This has caused me problems in that it seems unless I get the shut down / save sequence of the two modes correct I can unwittingly overwrite valid non-sandbox browser data with that accrued during my sandbox mode. Is this a regularly experienced problem or am I doing something so obviously stupid in running two modes in parallel.

Even running in sandbox mode alone, I am unclear as to the correct sequence of steps in shutting down the sandbox browser and clearing the sandbox allowing me the chance to save good stuff. Sometimes I seem to have blown it by shutting down in the wrong sequence and not being offered the chance to save. This is prob me missing the obvious, but I may not be the only one. I would be happy to contribute any help documentation if this would be useful and clarify the correct steps to follow.

I think the solution to your problem may be to share your Firefox data (this includes bookmarks, extensions, whatever) between the sandbox and outside system.

You can find an option for this in Sandboxie Control menu Configuration | Sandbox Settings | File Copy Options. It's the last check-box.
