Hi,
I like sandboxie but what infuriates me is that when I create
a new sandbox and fire up chrome all open tabs in the non sandboxed browser
are now imported, even though the non sandboxed browser is not running.
I just can't find a way to start with a clean browser with just one open tab.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello jg4545,

If you would like to be able to directly modify the history/bookmarks in your host from Sandboxie, you can use the following option (this will give Sandboxie direct access to your Chrome's data for history and bookmarks).
Right-click on your Sandbox ---> Sandbox settings
Applications--> Web Browsers---> Google Chrome
Check "Allow direct access to the entire Google Chrome bookmark and history Database"
If you are still experiencing problems, please see:

By saying clean, I think what you want is to block access to the outside location and create a new profile that exists only in the sandbox?
If that's accurate you can go to Sandbox Settings > Resource Access > File Access > Write-Only Access > Edit/Add and insert the path to the profile chrome currently uses outside of sandbox.
eg something like
should be what you are looking for but the path may be different for your setup.
I'd also clear the contents of the sandbox before re-launching chrome in it or it will likely already have copied over some of the files from the host and may not appear to help otherwise.

eg something like
Code: Select all
%Local AppData%\Google\Chrome\User Data*

Re: New sandbox pulls in tabs from non sandboxed browser
I dont use Chrome so I am not familiar with it but I think doing the following should give you the behavior in Chrome you want. 1. In the new sandbox, untick all options in Sandbox settings>Applications>Web browser>Google Chrome. 2. Set the new sandbox not to delete on closing. And 3. Now, open Chrome in the new sandbox, once you close Chrome and reopen it again in the new sandbox, Chrome should open and look identically as when you closed it last. My browser is Firefox, and I run Firefox constantly everyday in 3 different sandboxes. Thats the behavior I see with Firefox.jg4545 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 18, 2017 4:33 amI like sandboxie but what infuriates me is that when I create

If you dont want to save contents of the new sandbox, test without doing point 2.

Thanks all who replied.
Syrinx's answer was the one I opted for because it sorted out the problem.
