Full File Access
Full File Access
I read in another thread about Full and Direct Access. While I am using sb for many years and have distinctive sandboxes, I have not much fiddled with the config options, so I am not really familiar with the difference between Full and Direct Access. Out of curiosity I checked my setting and under Full Access I found [\Device\NamedPipe\stereovrpipe] and have no idea what this relates to. I am using "Drop Rights" and force my browsers and some other programs to run sandboxed. I have one forced folder for Downloads. Any idea what this stereovrpipe relates to and if this is ok?
Re: Full File Access
"stereosvrpipe" is listed in the Sandboxie template [Template_nVidia_Stereoscopic3D], in Sandboxie's (Program Files)\Sandboxie\Templates.ini file.
If Sandboxie detects that the service "Stereo Service" is running on your system, it assumes that you have "nVidia Stereoscopic 3D Driver", whatever that is, and it applies that template to your setup.
The exclusion for that resource is "OpenPipePath=\Device\NamedPipe\stereosvrpipe", where OpenPipePath is a "Full Access" setting.
The fact that you see brackets [...] surrounding the setting:
[\Device\NamedPipe\stereosvrpipe]
means that the setting is due to a template - as opposed to a setting that you might have added yourself. If it was your own setting, it wouldn't show brackets around it.
You will probably find that template selected in the Sandboxie Control window > Configure > Software Compatibility. That would mean that the template is being applied to all of your sandboxes.
Otherwise, it would only be listed under Sandbox Settings > Applications > Desktop Utilities if it was only being applied to an individual sandbox. If it's being applied to all sandboxes, then the entry here will show [--] for that template.

Re: Full File Access
mouse, in the Full file access window, if you click to Remove the setting, Sandboxie gives you a message telling you the name of the program that the setting belongs to (the setting wont be removed).

Re: Full File Access
Guys,
thank you very much for your info. You are quite right, it's the Nvidia Driver and I did not manually do this but it came through Applications/Desktop Utilities. I assume I can leave this untouched.

You assume correctly!mouse wrote:Guys,

Anyway, if you don't want that setting in your Sandboxie installation you can uninstall that Nvidia driver anytime. As I don't need that 3D stereoscopic functionality actually I uninstalled it, just don't need to bloat my computer with more useless (for me) software.
