Hi
I run a program in sandboxed mode and the program need to browse some files on my computer, and there is no file there. How can I allow sandboxed app to see my files?
Thanks
Sandboxed program can't see file
Sandboxed programs can normally see files that are in locations outside of the sandbox, unless the sandbox contains a file with the same exact name and it is located in a corresponding folder - and that file is marked as a deleted file, in the sandbox.
When a sandboxed program "deletes" a file that is actually located outside of the sandbox, it only marks that file as deleted if the sandboxed program doesn't have a setting that allows it to actually delete the file outside of the sandbox.
The "deleted" file in the sandbox is typically 0 bytes, and it will hide the presence of a file by the same name that's located in the corresponding folder outside of the sandbox.
So, is there a chance that there's a deleted file with the same name that's inside of the sandbox?
Another possibility would be that some setting for the sandbox would keep programs from being able to read certain folders or files outside of the sandbox. You can list the settings for that sandbox here, if you would like an opinion:
Sandboxie Control > Configure > Edit Configuration
Copy and then Paste the settings for the sandbox in a message, here.
