run application with Start.exe in any sandbox

Post by Unknown_User_409 » Tue Jul 25, 2006 1:50 pm

Hi,

I've got a simple question: How can I run any application with command line in any sandbox? (e.g. "Start.exe -s My_sandbox firefox.exe")

I did not find any help about this topic. Could you help me, pls?

Thank you.

Code: Select all

Start.exe /box:My_sandbox firefox.exe
Don't put any spaces on either side of the colon.

Thanks

One more question:

How can I add/remove sandboxes with command line?

There's no command line, but you can edit Sandboxie.ini. Then you only have to refresh the active configuration. There's no command line for that either. I guess I can add "Start.exe /reload" if it's very important to you?

Yes, this command will be very helpful.
The reason: I don't like to use UI to manage sandboxes.

Thank you in advance

No problem. I added this feature, it will be in version 2.5. "Start.exe /reload".

In my office the PC I use to connect to the internet is protected behind a firewall which is well understood but in the recent times I am seeing that my home PC for some strange reason is also showing me the same that I am behind a firewall and for this reason I am having problems in transferring some important files but I cant remember or rather I am sure that I have never enabled any firewalls in my PC then why should these problems spur up? Have anyone else been thru similar kind of problems if yes then please let me know about it and the process by which I can come out of the same also in this regard I came to know about the digital certificates what are the purposes of these?

jonathan if you run this command:
RunDll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL firewall.cpl
In the Commandline(runas in the start menu) you can see if your (internal WinXP firewall, i guess you have WinXP?) is active or not.
in the early beginning of servicepack 2 i had similar problems cause i used also an second(kaspersky) firewall. if you have no second firewall you probably want to have at least 1 activated firewall, in this case you could specify exclusions for filetransfer between pc's in you local network, in the same menu. You can google about the way this should be properly specified.

I do have a question about starting firefox with for example:
C:\Program Files\Sandboxie\Start.exe default_browser http://www.sandboxie.com

in this example firefox starts in a new window, but is it possible to start a firefox tab?. With CTRL-T i could open a new tab.
The reason i ask for this is that i want to use sandboxie also for opening firefox tabs. With Start.exe default_browser sandboxie ignores the tabs function in firefox any ideas anyone?

i have the answer already :D haha
i just start:
C:\Program Files\Sandboxie\Start.exe default_browser -new-tab http://www.sandboxie.com

It works great, i use in combination with sandboxie: RunFast
you can start anytype of application or website with an alias.
if i want to start the sandboxie website sandboxed for example i press F1+1 and it opens firefox in a new(sandboxed) tab, i even haven't type the name, just two clicks, thats all.
I love to automate processes :)
