No Sboxie Control Panel with 8.1

Hi. I have a new Bush tablet with full Win 8.1 32bit and sandboxie doesn't work fully.

4.16 seems to install OK and it gives me the sboxie control panel when it first installs and i use it to configure things Ok and i can surf the net with a sandboxed browser (i think), but when i close down sboxie control panel i cant get it back - the shortcut and the control exe dont respond. i can still surf with a sandboxed browser (i think) because the browser (firefox) has the yellow box around it and the firefox folder shows up in c:\program files\sandbox\username\firefox BUT NO CONTROL PANEL! I have to reinstall to get the control panel but i lose it when i close it.

I've installed the beta 4.17 and previous versions (4.14, 4.12, 4.10) but the same result - i get the control panel on installation but once i close it i can't get it back. I make sure windows defender is off when i install. I also tried the compatibility function to check if it works with previous versions of windows but no luck.

Any ideas? Thanks.

PS If I delete the sandbox contents manually through c\program files\sandbox\username\sandboxname, is that as effective as using the sboxie control panel? Will i get rid of all the contents that way just as well? Worst case scenario i have protection I think, though im not sure.

Sorry Folks. False Alarm. I was using the wrong shortcut (SbieCtrl) instead of Sandboxie Control. The proper control shortcut went astray and I managed to track it down. All clear--almost.

Just one question still: The sandbox name and the # dont show up on the sandboxed web browsers even though I've ticked the boxes in Settings. is this likely to be a problem or can I ignore it?

Hi Safemist. In Firefox, for the # and the sandbox name to display, you need to enable Title bar in Firefox Customize.

Just one more thing: If I lose the control panel for some reason, can I delete the sandbox at C:\Sandbox\Username\sandboxname? Is that equivalent to a full delete in the control panel?

Safemist, if control panel disappear, you can delete the sandbox at C:\Sandbox\Username\sandboxname. But better yet, run Sandboxie control from the Sandboxie folder in Start menu and delete the sandbox from there.

You could also make a shortcut of Sandboxie control and place it at your desktop. Make sure Sandboxie control is set to start with Windows and to start when a program runs in the sandbox. You can verify this settings in Sandboxie control>Configure>Windows shell integration.
