I downloaded and installed the latest version of HitmanPro.Alert, then did the manual edit thing. And it works. I'll be watching for v.3 and installing it when it comes out. Thanks for the prompt help and a solution.

Nix, I sometimes go outside Sandboxie, for example to watch videos on The Chive. For some reason they won't play inside the sandbox. So a bit of extra security for those occasions is nice. Thanks for the info.
Deugniet, I can't follow that link. I get the 'invalid security certificate' thing again and it won't open.
This is an edit. I went directly to the Wilders Security site and found the pages you linked to. No problem opening them there, and I have it bookmarked for future reference. Thanks.

You shouldn't have problems viewing videos at The Chive using a sandboxed Firefox. I just did it and didn't have to change anything in my restricted Firefox sandbox.Try viewing videos there using a new sandbox.

As Bo said you should be able to watch video on The Chive w/o any problem. Also did a test on HitmanPro alert, it yielded the same result, to be fair did a re-test w/o SBIE restriction it still pass test.

FWIW, I upgraded to Firefox 28 a little while ago and looking good so far. Earlier today, I tested Firefox 29 and that one was just fine sandboxed as well. So I guess the road for running Firefox sandboxed is clear for a while as long as there is no other security program messing things up. :)

Hi,
I've the same problem with a different environment.
Avast Free 2014.9.0.2016
Sandboxie v 4.0.08 (32-bit)
FireFox 28.0
Windows XP Home SP3
Presario 2140

Normal Firefox launch is less than 4 seconds outside of Sandboxie
Inside Sandboxie the launch does not occur out to 20 seconds (the minimum time I have waited across all debug loops). Some of my tests have involved hours. I had other work to do.

Debugged with all 3 of Avast's shields OFF. No Firefox launch.
Tried right clicking Firefox and running in Sandboxie. No change.
Tried dragging Firefox into Sandboxie. No change.
Tried Firefox in Sandboxie under Dependency Walker. No change. Had two faults indicating calls could not be found. When I
gave Dependency Walker a Program Argument that defined the path to Firefox the number of faults decreased by one. Still no change.
Tried the other suggestions that I have found around the internet (as I understood them) without success.

Does anyone know if this problem carries over under Internet Explorer. My next debug activity is to try it.

For me to believe is insufficient for you to know. -- rodalsa

rodalsa, you need to install the 4.9.2 beta: http://forums.sandboxie.com/phpBB3/view ... 337#p99158

It does not. The problem you are having was a Firefox issue that gets solved by installing 4.09.02 over the top. You are using SBIE, Avast and Firefox 27/28, those are the ingredients of the problem. I recommend you follow Curt's advice and install 4.09.02 over the top.

Thanks much.

Curt's suggestion to use the 4.09.02 Beta solved my problem.

This is the first time that I have used a beta. I hope it holds up.
