Browsers and client authentication (user SSL certificates)

Hi, I noticed that if I install my personal certification in windows (control panel -> internet options -> content -> Certificates) and try to use it when a websites require client authentication, then I get prompted for the certificate to use but after that the browser hangs.

It happens with both Internet Explorer and Chrome.

Running Windows 8.1 x64.
