Google Chrome typing in addres bar is laggy/slow
hi,
I just noticed, that when i type something in the browser's addres bar and chrome searches for suggestions, it goes really laggy. is this normal? in a non-sandboxed chrome everything goes smooth and fluently.
i use sandboxie on windows 10.
greets!

Can't say that's something that's been reported or what we've seen in testing.
SBIE version?
Chrome Version?
Add ons?
SBIE version?

Add ons?
Re: Google Chrome typing in addres bar is laggy/slow
hmm strange. now the typing is just as it should be in the sandboxed chrome...
I can't explain this to myself...
sandboxie: v. 5.08 (64-bit)
chrome: Version 48.0.2564.116 m
add ons:
AdBlock 2.50
dict-cc 1.6.88
and the standard google stuff (like google docs etc.)

Re: Google Chrome typing in addres bar is laggy/slow
The direct tests we do are with the core browser only.
So, the only sure fire way for you to know is to try Chrome sans any extensions to see if it happens again.
Although, my version of Chrome has many add ons, and I'm not seeing it, but I'm not using any of the add ons you have mentioned minus the Google ones (Docs, Drive, etc.).

Re: Google Chrome typing in addres bar is laggy/slow
ah, I just found the reason for the slow addres bar typing!
It occurs when Process Monitor from Sysinternals (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sys ... nitor.aspx) is running. but only on the sandboxed chrome not on the normal one.
so I guess Process Monitor has problems getting the information from the sandboxed chrome or something like that.

Re: Google Chrome typing in addres bar is laggy/slow
Thank you . Thats also the solution for me.
I have the same situation with a sandboxed firefox: If the process explorer ( or process hacker thats derived from the process explorer) is running firefox is laggy with any keyboard input or mouse movement. (It feels like if there is sometimes a pause in between the input so you click in the search field and start typing and after 0,5s-1s only the typing is reflected in the field)
Without process explorer everything is fine. (only occurs for the sandboxed browser)

Re: Google Chrome typing in addres bar is laggy/slow
I have to adjust my post from yesterday:
It is better without process explorer, however the lags are there anyway. (Compared to a firefox not running in a sandbox)
The duration of the lags is the same like it used to be with the process explorer running but the frequency is much lower. It only occurs every couple of minutes whereas with process explorer the lags are there every couple of seconds.
The lags affect keyboard and mouse input.

Sandbox user, I think you should uninstall Comodo. Using Comodo along Sandboxie its probably whats causing lags for you. They can also be due to an addon you are using in Firefox but I would try first uninstalling Comodo to see if they go away. Your Firefox under Sandboxie should feel great, I don't experience any kind of lags, delays, freezing, sandboxing Firefox in two computers with different systems.Sandbox User wrote:I have to adjust my post from yesterday:

Comodo is uninstalled however the lag is not removed.
=> Windows 10 + Sandboxie +Firefox (Sandbox) lagging
=> Windows 7 +Sandboxie + Firefox (Sandbox) not lagging.
The configuration of Sandboxie and Firefox is identical.....

Re: Google Chrome typing in addres bar is laggy/slow
Hard to tell what it could be. Even if it's related to SBIE...at least nothing we've been able to recreate.
Comparison of Win 7 performance to Win 10 should not be used. As that's comparing Jupiter to our Moon .
Not even of the same world when it comes to how they (Win 10 compared to Win 7 or 8.1) work.
Not to mention how SBIE is going to work, or any other 3rd party programs. SBIE is going to use different logic when Win 10 is in play a opposed to when Win 7 is dejected..or 8.1 etc.
I'd say most 3rd party programs will adapt to what OS is detected and run accordingly much like SBIE if those programs support other OS's (I believe we are one of the few that support Vista...AND XP still!) ...
The only common issue it appears from this thread is FF, Win 10 and maybe SBIE. (another user mentioned Chrome, which is my default browser is all VM testing along w/ many many add ons and I have never noticed anything such a lag...from within a VM too!..)
Currently I've been testing FF since I saw this update over an hour...Nothing lag related noted.......But I'll watch it today...
running FF 44.0.2
Yubi key and LP 2FA add-on in FF
Win 10x64
SBIE v5.10
in a VM

I would test using a new Firefox profile. The link below has the instructions, you don't need to delete the old one. If a Firefox addon you are using is conflicting with Sandboxie or some setting in Firefox that you changed is causing the issue, you should feel the difference running Firefox sandboxed with the new profile.Sandbox User wrote:Comodo is uninstalled however the lag is not removed.

I would also disable Protected mode for Flash in Firefox Addons>Plugins.

Yes, that's a good point I forgot. When I tested Comodo in the past, I had to create a new profile in FF to totally render Comodo out of the picture and clean the slate.bo.elam wrote:I would test using a new Firefox profile. I'd also run FF without any add-ons to see how that goes, and then add them one at a time to see if that is possibly the issue as well.

Re: Google Chrome typing in addres bar is laggy/slow
Thank you for your answers.
I did create a new firefox profile. The resulting Firefox is much more responsive (based on all the extensions I use ) however the lags are there. They are very often if I use the process explorer in paralell and not so often if I dont have the process explorer opened.
=> Well I think it is not a too important issue cause I can live with it. Compared to other topics and as it is not reproducable in a simple way I would leave it as is. I will keep looking into the issue and post any new information here.

Sandbox User, don't forget to test disabling Protected mode in Flash. Doing that can help to fix issues like yours in some computers. After disabling PM, if this works for you, you should inmediatedly feel the difference.

Re: Google Chrome typing in addres bar is laggy/slow
Thanks but I don’t have Flash at all.
But I also tried setting dom.ipc.plugins.flash.disable-protected-mode to true which made no difference. The lags do not only occur in Firefox. I have them too in Chrome so any specific Firefox functionality is not probable.
