how to run install in sandbox under limited user account

Post by gwjwin » Wed Dec 12, 2012 9:53 am

I do have an admin account, but I prefer logining as normal account.
I can use 'RunAs' to run applications when need full privileges outside Sandboxie.
But I cannot do that inside the sandboxie. That makes me always switching account when I need to run installation inside the sandboxie.
Any suggestion/solution? Thanks.

I think sandboxie is running as a system service, which has full privileges, so can it just simulate the admin environment like 'RunAs'(or let 'RunAs' program run correctly)?

[when I run 'RunAs' program inside sandbox]
RUNAS ERROR: Unable to run - ***
1722: The RPC server is unavailable.

I found a solution:
add '\RPC Control\SECLOGON'
into 'IPC Access\Direct Access'
It seems ok.

As for me, I found out that SuRun (coupled with SandBoxIE) works perfectly well, although might require some tweaking).

First, it's tiny and free;

Second, it's not a subject to MS infamous RunAs vulnerabilities, because credentials are temporary created and release on-fly;

Third, it has it's own secured environment as an option (very recommended);

Fourth, it's very functional, more informative and works more handy than UAC.

All in all, it's just another great tool for XP family!
