terminate or delete contents? [SOLVED]

Post by Dan_Br0673 » Sun Aug 27, 2017 1:38 pm

I always set Sandboxie to delete all contents at close. On my laptop (windows 10) after updating to FireFox 55.02, it takes about 15 seconds after closing browser to clear the contents of the sandbox. It used to be almost instantly, and is still on my desktop, (which I have not updated Firefox)

Which is better (more secure) delete all contents or terminate all programs?
Is it possible to create a shortcut keystroke to invoke either command?
Thanks

When you set the sandbox to delete on closing (as you have it now), after you close the sandboxed program, all programs running in the sandbox are terminated and then the sandbox gets deleted. This is really the most secure way to handle contents. If you dont set the sandbox to delete on closing, if you terminate all programs, contents still remain within the sandbox. So, you really want to keep deleting contents as you have it now.

Personally, my Firefox 55,0.2 sandbox is deleting fast as always in W10. Firefox 55.0.3 is out now, you might want to try it.

If any of my sandboxes was taking long to delete, one way to handle it would be to set that sandbox to delete on closing and click Terminate all programs when I am ready to close the sandboxed program. I can get used to doing that.

You also can create shortcuts for terminating all programs or for terminating an specific program. I have one for terminating all programs, I keep it in my taskbar. You can create that shortcut with this path.

"C:\Program Files\Sandboxie\Start.exe" /terminate_all

Or you can create one for an specific sandbox only. The path below is set to terminate programs running in a sandbox named Foxit. Just change that name to the name of your Firefox sandbox. Clicking the shortcuts out of the taskbar work with one click.

"C:\Program Files\Sandboxie\Start.exe" /box:Foxit /terminate

thanks for the suggestions. I made the shortcut, i.e. right click on desktop, choose new shortcut, type "explorer" then path in box, but it does not do anything when I click on it. I upgraded to 55.3 and still very slow to terminate contents.Mozilla clears out quickly like usual and like firefox used to.
Not sure what i am doing wrong with creating the shortcut

Hi Dan, you dont need to type "explorer". Just copy and paste the path as I posted it. After creating the shortcut, drag it to the taskbar. It works better from there, one click only.
