Hello,
I am using Thunderbird email client and OpenOffice.org.
I received an email with two document attachments. I can open one of the attachments - i.e. double click and OpenOffice opens the file. However, I can not open a second attachment. A new instance of soffice.exe and soffice.bin startup in the sandbox but then nothing opens.
This is also true if I open a document in one email and then try to open another attached document in another email. This does not happen when I run Thunderbird not-sandboxed.
When sandboxed, in order to open a second attachment, I must kill one of the running soffice.exe processes and then, voila, the attachment that would not open before springs to life.
This happens even if I close OpenOffice after viewing the first document and then try to open the second. It seems that the sandbox does not 'release' the soffice.exe/soffice.bin programs.
I hope any of this was clear!
Any ideas?
email attachment won't open

Sorry, but I cannot duplicate your problem.
I created an email in my [EmailBox] using Thunderbird, attached 3 OpenOffice documents to it (2 - .odt Writer files, 1 - .ods Calc file) and then saved it to my Drafts folder. I also saved a copy to my hard drive, so I could open it (via File > Open Saved Message) in an different sandbox, with Thunderbird.
When I opened that saved email in the sandbox in which it was created, I double-clicked on one of the Writer file attachments and had 1 instance of soffice.exe and 1 instance of soffice.bin in the sandbox.
I then opened the Calc file, and still had only 1 instance of each soffice.xxx file.
I then opened the other Writer file, and I still only had 1 instance of soffice.exe and soffice.bin.
All 3 documents were open, and I had only 1 instance each of soffice.xxx.
I then switched to my [DefaultBox] and opened the copy of the email that I had saved to my hard drive: same results.
It shouldn't make any difference, but I do have 2 LingerProcess statements in the Sandboxie configuration for both sandboxes, as you may also have:
LingerProcess=soffice.exe
LingerProcess=soffice.bin
Since these statements are there to allow Sandboxie to automatically terminate these 2 processes, in the sandbox, after all other processes have ended, I don't see where it would have anything to do with the behavior that you are reporting.
Sorry, I have no answers for you. Maybe someone else...

I tried adding the LingerProcess lines. That did solve the problem that Sandboxie was having of shutting down the soffice.exe/soffice.bin after closing the other processes, which is nice. It did not, however, solve my problem of opening more than one attachment
I repeated your experiment and still have my problem. I can open other attachments, like txt files (in a different program than openoffice), just not more than one in OpenOffice.
Thanks for the ideas.
btw, I am using the latest download of sandboxie.
