[.03] Run Windows Explorer Sandboxed not working

Post by AMD » Sat Mar 02, 2013 5:27 am

Hi, I cannot run Windows Explorer from SandboxIE.

I explorer.exe - Application Error stating "The application was unable to start correctly(0x0000142)Click OK to close the program.

I am using Windows 7 O/S SP1 and the latest SandboxIE Beta version.

Any help appreciated.

Andy

Andy, try running Windows Explorer sandboxed in a default setting sandbox to see if it works.

No unfortunately it doesn't work. I think it is the Beta version as I don't recall having that issue in the stable version.

I am planning on trying 4.01.02 tonight in my W7 32bits computer, I ll let you know what I ll find. Using the earliest beta, I was able to run Windows Explorer in W7. My WE sandbox is basically a default sandbox where no program is allowed to run.

Right, tried a complete un-install and install for Beta and that didn't work.

Un-installed the Beta and installed version 3.76 and Windows Explorer worked in 64 bit experimental mode but now I get the following error message when I open IE 10

SBIE1151 Cannot handle instruction FE9E753E: D9,89,54,24,40,4C,89,44,24,48,83,64

AMD perhaps your Windows Explorer issue is also caused by avast. I will make a note to experiment with that.

Are there any other security products that you use besides avast?

I use MBAM and Keyscrambler. I have IE10 but do not have enhanced protection enabled as I understand its incompatible with SBIE.

The crash of Windows Explorer described in this topic seems to be caused by some incompatibility with avast.

I fixed it by updating the avast compatibility settings to block the avast DLL (snxhk.dll) for the Windows Explorer process.

It seems to work well enough, please let me know if you encounter any problems with this.
