Sandboxie Errors 1103 + 1006: Driver won't load

Post by ADI » Tue Jul 24, 2007 12:05 pm

Hello Guys,

I got exactly the same problem like this guy here: The Driver won't load.
I uninstalled Avast! and rebooted, Uninstalled Sandboxie in Safe Mode, Rebooted, Installed Sandboxie, Rebooted.
The Driver just won't load...
The Sandboxie Control loads at startup, but when I close the information, the window disappears.
After some time, it shows some messages and errors (see here) and then it closes.

SBIE1106 error [80000005 / 77], detail \??\G:\Programme\Sandboxie
This is your first error, and all other errors are caused by this. It's a different error than the error in the thread you referred to. So the symptoms may be similar but the problem is entirely different.

Which operating system are you using? Any service packs?

I'm using Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2.
I got some programmes that are (probably) using core files, so maybe the error is caused by them.

- Avast! Antivirus (self-explanatory)
- TrueCrypt (transparent encryption)
- DaemonTools (CD / DVD Image Emulator)
- Spybot Search & Destroy (Adware Scanner)

Is any of these programmes blocking Sandboxie?
I also tried uninstalling Avast and then, after rebooting, installing Sandboxie, but it didn't work either.

I'm looking at the code that produces this error and it's not yet clear to me how this error can occur.

Try installing Sandboxie into another folder, something much longer that G:\Programme\Sandboxie. See if it makes a difference.

Hmm, i got a question, if you have windows installed on a particular partition (like C:\) and you install Sandboxie on a seperate partition (like G:\) would it cause this error?
Windows 7 SP1 x64, Sandboxie v3.70 x64 with Experimental Protection, GnuPG, OTR (Off-The-Record), Sticky Password, My Brain.

ok, I'll try installing it into a longer directory on the G:\ Partition and I'll tell you what happens.
Then I'll try installing it on the System Partition (C:\).
//Edit: Should I uninstall Avast! and / or Spybot Search&Destroy?

My Windos XP SP2 is installed on C:, and Sandboxie is installed in D:\Program Files. Moreover, I've got my Sandboxie Top-level folder is D:\Temp\Sandboxie. It all works fine.

These are separate drives, however, not just separate partitions, if that makes a difference.

Ok, I installed Sandboxie in "G:\Programme\Sandboxie\Very\Long\Directory\Path\For\Testing\Maybe\We\Will\Get\A\Result".
And, for some reason, I don't get the "SBIE1106 error [80000005 / 77], detail \??\G:\Programme\Sandboxie " Error anymore.
But still, the Driver can't be loaded.
I put the SbieDrv.sys in the Windows\System32\Driver\ folder, because it wasn't there.
I'm rebooting now and then let's look what happens.

//Edit: I forgot one thing: I got a AMD Athlon 64 X2, so Dual-Core and 64Bit, but I'm using 32Bit Windows. Does this affect Sandboxie?

//Here are the results:

I still get the same errors.
After Copying the SbieDrv.sys to the System32\Driver Folder, I additionally get this Error:

Type: Error
Source: SbieSvc
Category: None
ID: 9154
Description:
SBIE9154 Driver (SbieDrv) and service (SbieSvc) have different version numbers

It's not there because Sandboxie never puts it there. Remove it and re-install Sandboxie to a sane location, and let's see if you can get it to start.

FINALLY! IT WORKS!
The Reason was that my second Partition used the ext3-filesystem so that I can access this partition from Windows AND from Linux.
Windows accesses this partition using the ext3-IFS (Installable FileSystem Driver).
For Some reason, Sandboxie cannot use this driver properly.

So I installed it on the System Partition using NTFS and now it works :D

Thank you all for your support :D

Sandboxie rocks!
